Getting picked on in gym class is no fun, and so is getting picked last for a team. Average Boy experiences both of those things when the gym teacher has the students play a wild game called, “Crab Soccer.” At first this makes AB crabby, but then he makes a goal in a way you might expect—proving that everyone has different talents. Bob and Jesse also play a joke and questions from listeners, which leads Jesse to sharing a recent journey he took in the footsteps of the apostle Paul.

Knock, knock. Who’s there? Banana. Banana who? Average Boy tells Jesse about his grandma’s amazing banana bread, which causes Jesse to share some banana-themed jokes. Bob also talks about the power of prayer when it comes to studying for history tests. Of course, God gives us what we need, according to His will—not everything we ask for or want. Bob and Jesse end by helping a listener who wants to be more like Jesus, especially in how she treats her brothers.

Christmas break is over, and AB has emptied his mind of all knowledge. This turns out to be a big problem when his art teacher posts a riddle on the board. Bob immediately solves the riddle . . . incorrectly. As other students figure out the riddle and begin working on their projects, frustration sets in. What will AB do to find the answer? Also, Jesse unmasks the most famous animal artist in a classic Jesse joke.

Bob gets a hamster from a friend at school. Just one problem: he “forgets” to ask his parents. Then there’s the second problem: the hamster turns out to be an escape artist. AB, and his mom, discover this hamster’s Houdini-ness when Mom does laundry and grabs clothes out of AB’s closet. Rats! Oh wait, that’s later in the podcast. Bob’s dad also teaches him a valuable lesson—if you can’t be trusted with little things, then you can’t be trusted with bigger ones.
