Considering Transitions at the Supreme Court and in Syria

December 14, 2024

Send us a text

GUESTS:

  • ABRAHAM HAMILTON, General Counsel and Public Policy Analyst, American Family Association
  • SOEREN KERN, Managing Editor, The Christian Worldview Journal

Theoretical physicist Albert Einstein is quoted as saying, “The earth is the insane asylum of the universe.” A more Biblical assertion would be: “The earth is the sin asylum of the universe.”

For that is the common denominator between two seemingly unrelated issues that we will discuss this weekend on The Christian Worldview.

The first is a recent case before the United States Supreme Court as to whether the state of Tennessee is within Constitutional rights to ban what is euphemistically referred to as “gender affirming care” for children. That “health care” includes administering powerful drugs and hormones to minors that alter sexual development and irreversible surgeries to remove reproductive body parts.

Abraham Hamilton, General Counsel and Public Policy Analyst for American Family Association and the host of The Hamilton Corner radio program will join us to discuss that.

While we in America debate the illogical and impossibility of changing one’s sex, people in Syria are concerned about the basics of life after an Islamist militant group just ousted long-time dictator Bashar al-Assad.What does this mean for the broader Middle East and specifically for neighboring Israel? Soeren Kern, geopolitical analyst and managing editor of The Christian Worldview Journal will join us in the second half of the program.

When Culture Hates You by Natasha Crain

As cultural hostility toward Christianity intensifies, many Christians have grown more reluctant to advocate for biblical values in the public square. But our perseverance for the common good—a good defined by God alone—is more important than ever in a culture that embraces darkness.

Send us a textBlood is a recurring theme in Scripture. In Genesis 4, God confronted Cain after he had murdered his brother Abel, saying: The voice of your brother’s blood is crying to Me from the ground (Gen. 4:10).The sacrificial system God established for the Jews to temporarily cover their sin involved countless animals being slaughtered and their blood applied to the altar and mercy seat.Ephesians 1:7 says, In Him we have redemption through His blood, the fogginess of our trespasses.Even in a physical sense the Bible says, For the life of the flesh is in the blood (Leviticus 17:11).Clearly, God created and designed blood to be highly important physically and spiritually. This weekend on The Christian Worldview, we will discuss my recent problem with blood flow in my heart. We will also hear from the author of a children’s book titled 100% Jesus, that does a really good job explaining the gospel and how the blood of Jesus cleanses us from all sin (1 John 1:7). We think the book will be a helpful tool in your Bible reading time with your children, along with daily conversations and going to church, that will help young ones understand and believe in Christ. And finally in the third segment, we’ll discuss the significance of President Biden’s pardon of his son Hunter along with previewing first issue The Christian Worldview Journal coming to your mailbox soon.--------------------------100% Jesus by Jason Hammerberg - available for a donation of any amount to The Christian Worldview

Send us a text** This is a rebroadcast of our 11/27/21 program.GUEST: DR. JERRY NEWCOMBE, producer, The Pilgrims documentaryA small group of biblical Christians known as the the Pilgrims are widely considered to be “the founders of America”.Numbering only about 400-500 souls, they had fled religious persecution in England to settle in Holland. But after ten years there, they decided on another move across the Atlantic Ocean to an unknown land that would become the United States.About 50 Pilgrims were on the first vessel called The Mayflower, arriving in modern-day Cape Cod in Massachusetts in November 1620. One year later in November 1621, after a brutal winter in which many of them died, they celebrated a bountiful harvest with local Indians who had helped them in what has become known as the first Thanksgiving. The Pilgrims and their biblical beliefs which led directly to the principles of the Declaration of Independence and U.S. Constitution 150 years have been mostly forgotten by the majority of our population. “Separation of church and state” is a sacrament of mainstream society today…but it wasn’t to the Pilgrims. They said they came to America “for the glory of God and the advancement of the Christian faith.”Dr. Jerry Newcombe, producer of the documentary film, The Pilgrims, joins us this Thanksgiving weekend on The Christian Worldview to discuss the Pilgrims’ story and what they believed and lived by. For in them we have an example for how we can live in our pilgrimage in a contrary world.--------------------------Thanksgiving Special:THE PILGRIMS DVDAvailable for a limited time for a donation of any amount. The Pilgrims DVD celebrates the journey of a small group of outcasts in their quest for religious freedom. Unlike revisionist history, you will discover the true story of the men and women who came to these shores “for the glory of God and the advancement of the Christian faith.”57 mins, DVD.  Also available for streaming from Coral Ridge Ministries.

Send us a textGUEST: MEGAN BASHAM, author, Shepherds for SaleJesus warned, “Beware of the false prophets, who come to you in sheep’s clothing, but inwardly are ravenous wolves. You will know them by their fruits.” (Matthew 7:15-16).False teachers don’t wear red suits and carry pitchforks. That would be too obvious. Far more effective for undermining the church, diverting believers, and hiding the gospel from unbelievers is for false teachers to hold respected positions at churches and Christian organizations and to be captivating speakers and writers. What’s really effective is when they gain popularity while appearing to hold orthodox positions only to shift over time away from orthodoxy, leading their followers away.False teachers are nothing new. The Old Testament recounts the false prophets who led Israel into compromise and sin. The New Testament describes the constant battles of Christ and the apostles to “Retain the standard of sound words which you have heard from me, in the faith and love which are in Christ Jesus. Guard, through the Holy Spirit who dwells in us, the treasure which has been entrusted to you.” (2 Tim. 1:13).From the very beginning, Satan relentlessly attacks the truth of God’s Word and he uses men and women to do it. Men and women who likely would never consider themselves to be false teachers but are nonetheless. “You will know them by their fruits”, meaning misinterpreting Scripture and practicing sin.Our guest this weekend is Christian reporter, Megan Basham. She is the author of a well-researched, well-documented, and illuminating new book, Shepherds for Sale—How Evangelical Leaders Traded the Truth for a Leftist Agenda. She describes how those on the political left are insidiously working to draw Evangelicals, the last remaining bulwark standing in the way of their socialist, Marxist vision, over to the Democrat side by giving large sums of money and reframing issues like climate change, race, immigration, pro-life, and homosexuality in language that appeals to Christians.None other than John MacArthur has written about Megan’s book, Shepherds for Sale: “This may just be the single most important book on modern evangelicalism in recent years.”The question is: Will Evangelicals listen and make amends? Because the courage and Biblical model to exercise discernment, contend for sound doctrine, and name the names of those leading Christians astray has been sinfully lacking and shamed out of Christians to avoid being pegged as “divisive” and “unkind”.We have the book in our online store and we highly encourage you to get informed and give a copy to your own shepherd pastor.

Send us a textGUEST: Robert Knight, columnist, The Washington TimesLast week in our program before the election we started by reading Psalm 103:19: “The Lord has established His throne in the heavens and His sovereignty rules over all.”We said that God’s supreme power and authority is what Christians need to be trusting in now and always, for He controls the past, present, and future, moving people to accomplish His purposes. On November 5, millions of voters in our nation were moved to elect Republican Donald Trump to a second term as president in a landslide victory over Democrat Kamala Harris. There’s no other way to interpret the results than a sizable majority of the American people rejected the Marxist worldview of Harris and Democrats who seek to overturn traditional American values based on Christianity.Democrats are very clear that they want the “freedom” to abort babies throughout all nine months of pregnancy. They brought millions of illegal immigrants across our borders to make them into a permanent voting bloc dependent on government. They want to “transition” boys into girls and girls into boys even in the face of parental objection. They even want self-identifying boys to enter girls’ locker room and compete in girls’ sports. They want to tax and spend massively on social programs, despite costs and debt rising, so more people are dependent on and thus will vote for them. They want to shut down dissenting speech as “hate speech” and “inciting violence” and a “threat to democracy”. These are examples of Marxism, the toppling of Christian values and more in favor of big government secularism.Robert Knight, columnist for The Washington Times, joined us last week to preview the election and he will join us this weekend to analyze various elements of this stunning victory by Trump.--------------------------------------------RELATED RESOURCE:In-depth report by Revolver.news on the Jan 6, 2021 U.S. Capitol riot

Send us a textGUEST: TRAVIS ALLEN, pastor, Grace Church“The Lord has established His throne in the heavens and His sovereignty rules over all” (Psalm 103:19).God’s supreme power and authority is what Christians need to be trusting in now and always, for He controls the past, present, and future, moving people to accomplish His purposes. On November 5, the people of our nation will be moved to elect a presidential leader and other representatives whose policies on the economy, energy, education, national borders, crime and justice, marriage, morality, pre-born life, Israel and a host of other issues will impact everyone’s lives. No one, except God Himself, knows what’s ahead.Pastor Travis Allen of Grace Church in Greeley, CO joins us this weekend on The Christian Worldview to discuss various aspects of this election, culminating with how Christians can be at peace no matter what occurs.Later in the program, Washington Times columnist Robert Knight will tell us some key things to watch for.

Send us a textGUEST: JOEL BEEKE, Heritage Reformed CongregationLast week on the program, guest Mike Gendron joined us to discuss the topic, Remembering the Reformation and the War Against It Today. Mike explained why the Reformation was necessary (because the Roman Catholic Church had so departed from the faith and doctrines of the first century church) and what the Reformation accomplished, including the Word of God recovered as supreme authority, Christ as head of His church, and all-important doctrines such as justification by God’s grace alone through faith alone apart from human merit. This week, as we approach the anniversary of Reformation Day, October 31, 1517, the date when German monk Martin Luther nailed his 95 Theses on the church door in Wittenberg, Germany to protest the errant doctrines and abuses of the dominant Roman Catholic Church and which ignited a 130-year period of “reform” that forever altered the Christian faith and the Western Civilization, we will continue our focus on the Reformation by discussing “How the Church Needs Reformation Today”Joel Beeke, pastor of Heritage Reformed Congregation (Grand Rapids, MI), founder of Puritan Reformed Theological Seminary, and chairman of Reformation Heritage Books, will join us to explain how the church and Christians individually should apply truths recovered in the Reformation to preaching and living. We will also be offering a book edited by Joel Beeke titled The Beauty and Glory of the Reformation, which will better acquaint you with the men and women of the Reformation and how they believed and lived out the 5 Solas—Scripture alone, grace alone, Christ alone, faith alone, all for the glory of God alone.----------------------The Beauty and Glory of the Reformation by Joel BeekeThis 208-page hardcover book will call you to be grateful to God and to grow in appreciation for the rich biblical, doctrinal, experiential, and practical heritage passed on by the great sixteenth-century Reformation.Worldview Partners will automatically receive a copy of this book or you can purchase it for $20 [retail $25].Become a Worldview Partner for a monthly gift of $25 or more and automatically receive resources like this 4-6 times per year.

Send us a textGuest: Mike Gendron, Founder and Director, Proclaiming the GospelIt says something very destructive about the trajectory of our nation that October 31 is overwhelmingly celebrated as Halloween, a “holy-day” that features the dark supernatural world of evil spirits, death, and paganism.A far more righteous and momentous event occurred on the same date in the year 1517 when a monk named Martin Luther nailed a document known as the 95 Theses to the church door in Wittenberg, Germany, protesting errant doctrines of the predominant Roman Catholic Church. Luther’s protest ignited the Reformation, which led to the recovery of key doctrines of the faith such as justification by God’s grace through faith and started a new branch of Christianity called Protestantism. The impact of the Reformation went far beyond ecclesiastical matters into the civil sphere. European nations, such as Britain, Scotland, Switzerland, Netherlands, and Scandinavia, became Protestant, and generations later as descendants migrated to America, beliefs and practices from the Reformation shaped the founding documents and culture of our nation.Mike Gendron, founder and director of Proclaiming the Gospel Ministries and a former Roman Catholic for 35 years, is our guest this weekend on The Christian Worldview. He recently wrote a column on the Reformation that we will discuss. We will also examine how the the Marxist assault against our Constitution is really an ideological war against the Reformation.-------------------------RELATED RESOURCES:Sign up for Mike Gendron’s newsletterBarna 2024 Pre-Election ResearchManger in Danger

Send us a textGUEST: GRANT CASTLEBERRY, pastor, Capital Community Church (Raleigh, NC)God created the universe and every living thing. There is no being greater than God and thus He is sovereign over all, which definitionally means “possessing supreme or ultimate power.”We see God’s sovereignty, His rule, His control all throughout Scripture—from the parting of the Red Sea to prophecy-fulfilling events of Christ’s life, death, and resurrection to nations rising and falling. We marvel and praise God for His sovereignty when He ordains events that save or bless. But we question God’s sovereignty when the storms and sin and chaos of life causes suffering and pain. For example, how do we reconcile God’s sovereignty…In devastating hurricanes like Helene and Milton? When we learn a trusted preacher like Steven Lawson has not been above reproach? When a godless civil leader may rise to power?Grant Castleberry is the pastor of Capital Community Church in Raleigh, NC and the Bible teacher of Unashamed Truth. He joins us this weekend to explain God’s sovereignty in light of these challenging current events.Grant will also tell us about a new Christmas resource that he and his wife designed to be used by families in the lead-up to Christmas titled Manger in Danger.----------------------------MANGER in DANGER Christmas resource for a donation of $30 or more.PODCAST featuring Grant Castleberry: Unashamed Truth

Send us a textGUEST: CAL THOMAS, Syndicated Journalist and AuthorA post online summed up in part the current situation in America and abroad:“Major U.S. ports are closed due to striking longshoremen. Hundreds of Americans missing in a natural disaster. ICE says there are over 600k mid-high level criminals in our midst. War breaking out in the Middle East. And Kamala Harris wants a promotion.”It would seem with the troubled condition of America, adding to the list high prices and inflation, unaffordable housing, rampant crime, millions of illegal immigrants being dropped all over the country, poor public education and much more, that there would be no way Americas would give Harris and her running mate, Tim Walz, that promotion on election day, Tuesday, Nov. 5.But alas, the polls, if one can trust the polls, have the race between Harris and Trump very close. It’s helpful in these times to hear from someone with a wide breadth of historical experience along with a Christian worldview. That would be Cal Thomas, 81-years-old and one of America’s leading journalists over his 50+ year career. Cal has been up-close and lived through many national and international events and crises along with presidential elections. What would one with that degree of life experience say about our current situation? Join us this weekend on The Christian Worldview to hear from Cal Thomas.--------------------------------------Request your FREE copy of this resource:Why Your Vote Matters by Gary HamrickUntil Jesus returns, our calling is to be salt and light to a decaying culture.
