Combating Crows, the Enemy of the Harvest

August 1, 2024

Have you ever witnessed someone growing in their faith and then suddenly there is a horrible spiritual attack? Jesus warned there is an enemy of the harvest—crows that are bent on snatching the seeds scattered in the fields before strong roots can take hold.

We may not like to think about it, but Satan is eager to discourage and snatch away believers. In this message, Jill Briscoe encourages all the saints to get in the fight, disciple those around them, and help people grow strong roots in their faith.

It’s easy to see when a garden needs watering. The plant leaves begin to wilt, the ground becomes dry, and cracks appear. And if the plants aren’t tended to, they’re at risk of withering and dying. It’s the same with people who need Jesus. In this message, Jill Briscoe helps us understand what’s at risk and asks us to dedicate ourselves to impacting people in our sphere of influence.

Can an orchid grow in a putrid and smoldering garbage pile? Yes, and it has. That’s the power of life within the seed. And so it is with the Good News. Are you all out for Jesus, scattering news of Him wherever you go, no matter how dirty or unwelcoming the circumstance might be? In this message, Jill Briscoe encourages us to believe that God’s Word will always find good soil. It’s up to us to take advantage of every opportunity so that the fields will be ready for someone to come along and harvest to the glory of God.

Christ came to seek and to save that which was lost. When we respond to Him, He comes to indwell us by His Spirit. He lives within to lend us His passion, give us His vision, and infuse a sense of mission into the very fabric of our lives. If Jesus Christ lives in you, it is His job to win souls.

When you come to familiar Scriptures, do you tend to pass them by? Most of us have heard Psalm 23, describing the Shepherd’s relationship with His sheep. Take time and allow the Lord to give you a fresh revelation on these verses as Jill Briscoe shares her heart and perspective on one of her favorite passages in Scripture.

Those of us who played organized sports in school may remember a time when the race or game was not going well, and we just wanted to give up. For many of us, it was the shouts from the sidelines that kept us going. We could hear the coach shouting, “Keep going—you can do it!”  In the same way the coach keeps the team going, Christ keeps us going and guides us home. We just have to learn to turn everything in our lives over to Him. In this message, Jill explains how we can learn to let God “coach” us and find contentment in every circumstance.

What people come to mind when thinking of those who have a servant attitude? Missionaries? Pastors? Yourself? Do you think that having a humble attitude is important? The apostle Paul had a servant heart and attitude. He continually gave himself away to benefit those around him. As a result, he was able to bring many people to Christ.  We can impact those around us just as Paul did if we learn the spiritual art of humility. In this message, Jill explains how having a self-sacrificing attitude can impact others.

What do you do when you are suffering through a hard time? Many of us sulk, complain, and feel sorry for ourselves. Others put on a strong face, but when they’re alone, the fear and sadness take over and they break down. Much of the apostle Paul’s life was spent suffering—most of the time in jail. But unlike many of us, Paul was joyful no matter what his circumstance. This “spiritual art” of contentment was something Paul learned—and it wasn’t easy. In this message, Jill uses Paul’s life as an example of how we can learn contentment—along with joy and peace of mind no matter what we’re going through.

A woman's identity is revealed in Creation, obscured by the Fall, but renewed in Redemption. What does that say about her role in the home, family, church, and workplace? Jill offers a Christian point of view on this hotly debated issue.

Have you ever noticed how kids try to hide things they've done wrong—a broken family heirloom, a bad report card, or a dent in the car? As much as he or she tries to hide the mistake, most often the parents find out. The same is true of our sin. As much as we try to bury our sin, God always knows about it. But how do we confront it? In this message by Jill, she teaches us what to do with sin so that we can make God the true ruler of our lives.

Jill Briscoe will freely admit that even as a Christian, she struggles with worry—and she's not alone. Battling against worry and reclaiming the energy and abundant life that worry steals from us is a daily battle for so many people. Are you ready to learn how to rule worrisome situations and not be ruled by them? In this message, Jill shares the turning point in her life when she finally felt the worry war pivot in her favor—and it had a lot to do with studying the story of Joshua and the battle of Jericho.
