The Last Supper Part 1

February 22, 2025

Pastor Thom is currently in the book of John, and today we start chapter thirteen. This begins the Apostle John’s record of events in the “Upper Room”. Here Jesus has His last (Passover) meal with the Disciples, just before His crucifixion. He has some important instructions for them…and also for us.

A Study in the Book of Ruth

The book of Ruth is more than just a God ordained love story, although it is certainly that as well.  It reveals the extent of God’s kindness and grace. He accepted Ruth, once an outcast, into his chosen people, and went on to  honor her by  allowing King David and Jesus to be born of her lineage.  Pastor Thom explores the life of Ruth in his 13 message series entitled, Experience Hope in the Life of Ruth.  Request your copy today, on USB flash drive or CD, for a gift  of $25 or more.

Past Episodes

Pastor Thom Keller will be leading a study based in First Corinthians chapter fourteen.  Now upon first glance this section may raise a few eyebrows, and leave you wondering, “What’s that all about!”   You see it’s talking about women being silent in the church.  Pastor Thom says we need to understand the context, and what the totality of Scripture teaches, otherwise we’ll totally miss the point.

The Lord knows we have a tendency to forget, and that’s one of the reasons He instituted communion!  He wants us to be reminded of God’s love for us.  Today on Study the Word pastor Thom Keller will point out the purpose of communion and danger of taking it in an unworthy manner.  We’ll be covering First Corinthians chapter eleven, and verses 22-33.

Today on Study the Word pastor Thom Keller takes us to the Word of God to remind us of why the Lord instituted communion and what we’re to do when we gather for it.

We are finishing chapter twelve in the Gospel of John. Today we learn there were religious leaders who actually believed in Jesus. But they were afraid to confess Him publicly, for fear they would be excommunicated (put out of the synagogue). They loved the approval of men, rather than the approval of God. Pastor Thom discusses this and more as together we Study the Word.

There are ministry opportunities all around us, from vacant roles in the children’s ministry at church, to our neighbor who is hurting, not to mention the great needs overseas.  And if you’re a Christian, I hope it’s your desire to be involved in the ministry!  But the question we bring before you today on Study the Word is how can we be effective in the ministry?  We’ll look at the apostle Paul’s approach to help us get there.
February 14, 2025
What would you be willing to give up or sacrifice to reach the lost or to be effective in the ministry God has you in?  Would you let go of a liberty or right that you have?  It’s good for us to think about these things and we’ll do just that today on Study the Word.  We’re in the middle of pastor Thom Keller’s series in First Corinthians, and in chapter nine we’re challenged to be sacrificial just as the apostle Paul was.

Here in America we focus a great deal on our rights and freedoms. But as we’ll see today on Study the Word sometimes as ministers of Jesus we’ll need to give up some of our rights and liberties for very good reason.  Pastor Thom Keller has us consider First Corinthians chapter nine and a time when the apostle Paul gave up his rights as an apostle for the sake of his fruitfulness and effectiveness in the ministry.

It really is sad to see how lightly marriage is taken these days.  The divorce rate, the laws that are in place, and even the living together prior to marriage just goes to show how far we’ve declined as a society.  But God sees marriage entirely different, and He wants us to value and esteem marriage as highly as He does.  Today we bring you some guidelines for those who are married that will help your marriage not only survive but thrive.

About Study the Word

Study the Word is a radio ministry of Calvary Chapel Lebanon, Pennsylvania. It features the teaching ministry of pastor Thom Keller.  As we go verse by verse through the Scriptures, our hearts desire is to encourage you to not only Study the Word, but seek to follow God and obey His Word.

About Pastor Thom Keller

Thom began teaching an inner-city Bible study in 1995. That love of teaching God’s word eventually led to the formation of Calvary Chapel Lebanon in October, 2001, with about 50 people meeting in an old hardware store. Our church ministry and philosophy centers on teaching God’s word chapter by chapter, verse by verse.

Prior to pastoring, Thom was president and general manager of Keller Brothers Ford, a third-generation family business that began in 1921.  After 8 years of bi-vocational ministry, in 2009, Thom sold the business and became a full-time pastor.

Thom and his wife, Sue, live near Schaefferstown. Thom and Sue enjoy snow skiing, mountain biking and motorcycle rides.  Thom has often said that he loves performing weddings because he loves being married!

Ted, pictured above is Sue’s brother who has lived with Thom and Sue since 2001.

“It has been an absolute joy to see the changes God is bringing about in the lives of individuals, marriages and families at Calvary Chapel. God’s word does not return void!”

Currently we have worship services Sunday morning at 8:00 AM, 9:30 AM and 11:00 AM at our church located at 740 Willow St.  Please introduce yourself when you stop by!
