Your Lot in Life Part 3

February 16, 2022

The discovery of how God’s power is realized is not only exciting but very practical.  We can’t do what we’re called to without it. We’ve slowed down a bit in this section of our study in Joshua. We’re learning what it takes for God’s people to experience their inheritance in the land. Faith is needed because it’s a fight.  Also, prayer.

Someone has said that “Faith sees the invisible, and receives the impossible.” It’s the key that unlocks the door to what God has for us.  Still it can be a challenge to believe.  Today’s Sound Doctrine with pastor Jeff Johnson will help meet the challenge.

“Unhappy is the soul enslaved by anything that is mortal.” So said Saint Augustine. In other words, we’re only truly satisfied in God, in our inheritance in Christ. That's our focus on today’s Sound Doctrine with pastor Jeff Johnson. We’ve come Joshua chapter sixteen. It’s where God’s people are learning about their lot, or their inheritance in the land. And it pictures something we have in Christ.

Could it get any worse!  Maybe that thought has crossed your mind a time or two in the last couple of years.  Then it does.  And it would be easy for us to grow discouraged and give up hope.  We need hope for today, and that’s what we aim to bring you on this special edition of Sound Doctrine.

Get ready for a great time in the book of Joshua.  We’ll be polishing off chapter fifteen today, again discussing how to experience the victorious Christian life and a closer walk with the Lord.  A big part of it involves effectual prayer.  So how’s that going?  If you’re like most of us, I think you’d readily admit, it’s not where it should be.  So let’s receive some much needed encouragement from pastor Jeff.

Right now we’re in Joshua chapter fifteen and a section of Scripture that deals with the possessing of the land.  Pastor Jeff says this relates to our possession of God’s promises, or entering into them.  We do so by faith, with prayer.

Pastor Jeff Johnson will continue our series in Joshua.  We’re in the last section of this Old Testament book which deals with the possessing of the land.  In this messed up crazy world, we’re to stand out as people who are wholly following the Lord.  No it won’t be easy, but God can give us the strength.  And we see a great example of that in Caleb.

If you would like the recipe for a good and successful life, Joshua chapter fourteen has it for us.  You’ll hear that Caleb wholly followed the Lord God.  And because he did, he was blessed beyond measure.  Now those are footsteps to follow in.

We’re in the middle of a study in Joshua. Today we’ll introduce you to a friend of Joshua by the name of Caleb.  We’re told that he followed the Lord, and because he did, he was blessed.  Pastor Jeff believes following God is a key to entering into all that the Lord has for us!

You may recall it was Jesus that said, “Occupy till I come!”  What was He driving at?  Or maybe that has left you wondering, how do we do that?  That’s where today’s Sound Doctrine will prove to be helpful.  Pastor Jeff Johnson is about to open First Peter chapter four, and unveil a few things we’re to be doing in the last days.
