Work of the Holy Spirit part 1

One of the greatest things about the Bible is the way that the accounts of these men and women translate so well into modern times. God’s Word is living and active and applies to every person on earth. Today Pastor Jeff Johnson takes us to the Apostle Paul’s first missionary journey. As we watch and learn of this great man’s maturing in Christ, let’s see if we can find some ways we might grow closer to the Lord as well.

We have Rhoda, trying to explain to Peter’s pals that he is indeed at the front door. We have Herod... well, Herod is just a mess. All in all it makes for a great time of study in God’s word.

We are currently in a verse by verse study of the book of Acts. As we begin chapter twelve today, the topic is the power of prayer. There are plenty of powerful things around us in the year 2025. Rocket ships, power plants - they all generate lots of power, but they all pale in comparison with the power of God, available to us through prayer.

Pastor Jeff will again today be sharing a message based on the eleventh chapter of Acts. This is a key chapter for us to look at and understand, because it deals with something that a lot of people have questions about - The Holy Spirit, and His role in our lives.

Today we begin our final message in Acts eleven as we go verse by verse through the fifth book in the New Testament. This book is referred to as the “Acts of the Apostles”, but as pastor Jeff has reminded us several times in this series, it would be more accurately titled “The Acts of the Holy Spirit, through the Apostles”. We’ll be in Acts eleven, verses nineteen through thirty today, and a message titled, “Not By Might or Power, But By My Spirit”.
