Not too long ago one of the top wireless carriers had a character whose tag line was, “Can you hear me now?” It illustrated how common the loss of communication and dropped calls on certain carriers. In the same way, there is a loss of people feeling like they’re being heard as well, living lives of quiet desperation as Thoreau once penned. Pastor Jeff Johnson reminds us that there is a need for our world to receive comfort. And just as we have received comfort from Jesus, so too it is important to pass along that same comfort to others. Weddings are a celebration like no other. Every aspect of the ceremony communicates joy, and all who witness it take part in the happiness. So it is with the bride of Christ when Jesus takes us home. There will be no occasion for sadness. However, wrath will be the portion for those who remain on the earth. Your Word is a lamp to my feet and a light to my path, David said in Psalm 119. But for many it’s not God’s word that illuminates people’s lives, instead, it’s their smartphone, for others it’s the stock market news, and still for others it’s their spouse or family. And if you get serious about walking with Jesus Christ, you can look forward to all that God promises to those who call Him Father.
