Do you have hope as you walk in this life? If so, what is the reason for your hope, or the source of your hope? Some people hope in material possessions, in career advancement, in relationships, or other things. But as a believer in Jesus Christ, Pastor Jeff Johnson outlines 5 sources of hope that we have. As we continue through 1 Thessalonians 5 we notice that even though we go through trials and difficulties like everyone else, yet we have a hope that is eternal and found in Jesus Christ that causes us to escape the Great Tribulation. Your Word is a lamp to my feet and a light to my path, David said in Psalm 119. But for many it’s not God’s word that illuminates people’s lives, instead, it’s their smartphone, for others it’s the stock market news, and still for others it’s their spouse or family. To answer that question, look at those people who go to church on Sundays but live for themselves all throughout the week. They believe in church as their “fire insurance” or escape from judgment without a care to live for Jesus Christ. There are a few areas in the Bible where we are told not to be ignorant. Such is the case in our portion of 1 Thessalonians 4. Paul the apostle passionately wanted the believers to know about the rapture of the church. And Pastor Jeff teaches that the more we know about the rapture of the church, the more we will be in tune to the times we are living in. That will, in turn cause us to be anticipating Jesus’ coming for His bride. As you listen to the message today, may God help to stir you up as you see the times that we are living in today.
