We sometimes discount the basics, thinking more is needed because our life is so complicated. That kind of thinking can get us into real trouble as we’ll hear on today’s Sound Doctrine with pastor Jeff Johnson. We’ll meet you in Second Chronicles chapter eleven. It’s there we’ll hear of King Rehoboam neglecting the basics to his own peril.

It’s been well said, that, “Hypocrisy (lying to others) leads to duplicity (lying to yourself)!”  When that happens you’re living a lie.  Right becomes wrong and light becomes darkness.  How can anyone live in that kind of world? We’ll explore that and its implications today on Sound Doctrine.

Pastor Jeff Johnson is currently taking us through the book of Second Chronicles.  You might be quick to speak and a pretty good talker, but how are you at listening?  Many of us struggle in that department, just like the King we’ll hear about today in chapter ten.  Pastor Jeff is going to underscore the value of listening, and what can happen when we don’t.

Pastor Jeff Johnson has been teaching us from the book of Second Chronicles.  We’ve all experienced it, there you are talking to someone and they’re not listening to a thing we’re saying!   Today we’ll uncover the value of listening.  When we turn a deaf ear to the Lord, we’re treading on dangerous ground.

Today on Sound Doctrine we take a look at a man that certainly had plenty of money to go around. In fact, he was the richest man on earth, and also the wisest person as well!  Kings and rulers from all over the world would come to listen to what he had to say.  But he had the same problem that many of us have and that revolves around trusting God.

Maybe you can look back on your life and see how God has blessed you as you've honored Him?  During his early years Solomon did honor God. And the Lord blessed and honored him in return. One of those great blessings was tremendous wisdom. That's something each of us need, and the Lord wants to give it to us too.

Again we are talking about how King Solomon built the temple of God. There was a lot of work that went into it that's for sure. The building project itself took twenty years. This temple was a major part of Solomon's life as you can imagine. And the work is just about finished. Pastor Jeff Johnson believes it’s reminiscent of the work of God in our lives.

People by and large are longing to live the good life, but what really is the good life?  The world has its own ideas, usually wrapped up in making a name for yourself and creating a large bank account.  But God sees it much differently.  We’ll learn today on Sound Doctrine that the good life is experiencing peace with God.  Pastor Jeff Johnson shows us how to enter in, through his study in First Peter chapter two.

It’s said that every saint has a past and every sinner has a future. But the key is discovering and doing what God has called you to. We’ve been making our way through Second Chronicles. And in chapter eight we find Solomon starts well but then gets off track. Something we can fall prey to.

While God’s has promised forgiveness to the repentant heart, He has not promised tomorrow to the heart that’s unrepentant. Now’s the time. And that sense of urgency is reflected in today’s Sound Doctrine with pastor Jeff Johnson. In Second Chronicles chapter seven we find a remarkable promise in answer to Solomon’s dedication prayer. And it has application to a repentant individual or even a nation.
