Understanding Our Trials and Tribulations Part 1

February 26, 2022

When a severe trial strikes like a Pandemic, it’s easy to think something is wrong or that God must be mad at us!  But the truth of the matter is, every Christian will go through trials and it doesn’t diminish God’s love for us, or necessarily indicate it’s as a result of sin in our lives!  Today on Sound Doctrine we continue to receive encouragement, practical instruction and eternal perspective for those times when we suffer greatly.

Pastor Jeff Johnson will be in Joshua chapter 21.  We’re going to introduce you to the Levites who were leaders in worship, and served as Priests of God.  They lived a life of dedication to God.  Pastor Jeff will suggest that’s the sort of life every believer should have in his message, “Oh to Be a Levite.”

A place of shelter, protection and safety where those who are in trouble can flee… that’s descriptive of a refuge!  Something we all need and it’s our focus on today’s Sound Doctrine with pastor Jeff Johnson. It’s righteousness that exalts a nation! Without it, a nation quickly begins to decline. Both Lincoln and Washington understood this and sought to incentivize it for the sake of our country.  We continue in the book of Joshua who is incentivizing his fellow countrymen – starting with the tribe of Benjamin.

Jeff Johnson brings a special message full of hope and encouragement this weekend.  And I think you’d agree, we need plenty of that right now with all that’s been going on. These are dark days, and people are afraid.  But we can move from fear to faith, if we’ll look to Jesus and stand on His promises.

While we are saved by grace alone this salvation by grace is never alone. Good works, service, responsibility is to follow. But sometimes it doesn’t and that’s a problem. But not without a remedy as we’ll hear on today’s Sound Doctrine with pastor Jeff Johnson.

If we’re to be successful in the Christian life it’s critically important to recognize what is necessary not just what is merely desirable. We could miss out on what is essential, for a victorious life, by settling for what isn’t. We’ll dig into those essentials on today’s Sound Doctrine with pastor Jeff Johnson. That’s uncovered as we continue in the book of Joshua. We’ll also hear about what gets in the way of the Christian life.

The discovery of how God’s power is realized is not only exciting but very practical.  We can’t do what we’re called to without it. We’ve slowed down a bit in this section of our study in Joshua. We’re learning what it takes for God’s people to experience their inheritance in the land. Faith is needed because it’s a fight.  Also, prayer.

Someone has said that “Faith sees the invisible, and receives the impossible.” It’s the key that unlocks the door to what God has for us.  Still it can be a challenge to believe.  Today’s Sound Doctrine with pastor Jeff Johnson will help meet the challenge.
