To Be Used of God; Your Gifts! Part 1

November 21, 2022

Whether we’re helping someone get their groceries every now and then, caring for babies in the nursery, or helping teach a Sunday School class, God can use us in powerful ways.  Question is are you putting the gifts He’s given you to use?  God wants to use us and our gifts!  It’s not only a high privilege but very fulfilling.

God often shows up in our lives, in ways we might not expect, but at just the right time!  Today on Sound Doctrine we’ll see an example of that as the Lord reveals Himself suddenly, breaking up a party, all to convey an important message.  We dig into Daniel chapter five and examine the handwriting on the wall… a message written by God that has great application to us today.

What’s involved in knowing God’s Will? What can get in the way of it? We’re about to find out on Sound Doctrine. We return to Romans chapter twelve, verses one and two today. The early part of this chapter speaks of consecration.  Put another way, our attitude towards God. We’ll learn that as we give ourselves over to God, He begins to unveil His will to us.

When you become a believer God implants within you a desire to seek to follow His will. But maybe to you it seems like an elusive target or a mystery at times!  How do you discover God’s will?  You can turn to Romans chapter twelve for starters!  And that's where we're headed today.

What is God’s will for my life?  That’s one of the most frequently asked question by believers today.  You may be pleased to know the Lord doesn’t want that to be a mystery.  Romans chapter twelve is a good place to turn to discover God’s will for you.  And that’s where we’ll be today on Sound Doctrine.  We’ve entered a highly practical portion of Romans.

We turn your attention to the greatness of our God today on Sound Doctrine.  Such a needed reminder in a day like ours, where hope is low and discouragement is running high.  Pastor Jeff Johnson will be finishing Romans chapter eleven where we see the importance of a right perspective of our God.  When you come to understand how great and big our God is… you should be left with a thankful heart and want to praise and worship Him.

How big is your God?  It’s a question we’re confronted with throughout life.  Maybe it’s when you’ve been diagnosed with terminal cancer, or the bills are stacking up and you’re not sure how to make ends meet.  Today on Sound Doctrine we’ll get to know our all-knowing, all-powerful God.  And marvel for a bit at His grace and goodness in our lives.  The only proper response is to trust, and then praise and worship Him.

As Christians we have a unique and powerful testimony.  Some are rather dramatic like the one you’ll hear today on Sound Doctrine.  But all are miraculous.   Pastor Jeff Johnson is about to finish up Daniel chapter four, which is a summary of King Nebuchadnezzar’s testimony.   You’ll hear how God got his attention in a very amazing way and Nebuchadnezzar would end up being a witness of God’s loving grace.

We’re excited to open Romans together with you today on Sound Doctrine.  We’ll be finishing chapter eleven.  And the focus of Jeff Johnson’s message today is God’s provision and mercy in Christ.  When we blow it, and we all do, we need to be reminded of God’s faithfulness and that nothing can separate us from His love.  Need proof?  Just look at Israel.

Our God is a God of mercy, second chances and new beginnings.  And aren’t you glad for that!  We’re digging deep into Romans chapter eleven.  And in today’s passage we learn about God’s provision and mercy.  And that of course is Jesus.  While Israel has rejected their Messiah, one day their eyes will be opened, and they will experience God’s provision firsthand.

As we go deeper into Romans chapter eleven today, Paul is pointing out that God is not done with Israel. He’s looked at the past, present and future to build that case.  Pastor Jeff will encourage us today, that just as God has a plan for Israel, He has a plan for us too.
