To Be a Witness Part 1

August 14, 2021

It’s clearly evident that being a spectator cannot solve the problems we’re facing as a nation!  Rather than sit back and just wait for the coming of the Lord, we’re to be fully engaged in whatever God calls us to do. We’re going to see what being a witness for the Lord looks like in 2021.

While there are many good homes, many aren’t. With that said, there is a place you can go. Better said, a person!  It’s to the Lord, of course. And you’ll hear about the first step to take in that direction, beginning on today’s Sound Doctrine.

Many have spoken of “God's pursuit of man!”   Think of it, He wants to give us life, and give I might add that which man too often tragically is looking for in all the wrong places. If you’re that man or woman today’s Sound Doctrine will be an encouragement to stop running and let God catch you.

God in His love for us knows what to do to get us back on track. Or even to get us on the right track in the first place. As we continue in Second Chronicles we hear that if God is to make something of us He’ll need our cooperation.

We sometimes discount the basics, thinking more is needed because our life is so complicated. That kind of thinking can get us into real trouble as we’ll hear on today’s Sound Doctrine with pastor Jeff Johnson. We’ll meet you in Second Chronicles chapter eleven. It’s there we’ll hear of King Rehoboam neglecting the basics to his own peril.

What is it that can unify us in a world that’s so divided right now? That’ll be our focus today on Sound Doctrine, as we continue in Second Chronicles.

It’s been well said, that, “Hypocrisy (lying to others) leads to duplicity (lying to yourself)!”  When that happens you’re living a lie.  Right becomes wrong and light becomes darkness.  How can anyone live in that kind of world? We’ll explore that and its implications today on Sound Doctrine.

Pastor Jeff Johnson is currently taking us through the book of Second Chronicles.  You might be quick to speak and a pretty good talker, but how are you at listening?  Many of us struggle in that department, just like the King we’ll hear about today in chapter ten.  Pastor Jeff is going to underscore the value of listening, and what can happen when we don’t.

Pastor Jeff Johnson has been teaching us from the book of Second Chronicles.  We’ve all experienced it, there you are talking to someone and they’re not listening to a thing we’re saying!   Today we’ll uncover the value of listening.  When we turn a deaf ear to the Lord, we’re treading on dangerous ground.

Today on Sound Doctrine we take a look at a man that certainly had plenty of money to go around. In fact, he was the richest man on earth, and also the wisest person as well!  Kings and rulers from all over the world would come to listen to what he had to say.  But he had the same problem that many of us have and that revolves around trusting God.

Maybe you can look back on your life and see how God has blessed you as you've honored Him?  During his early years Solomon did honor God. And the Lord blessed and honored him in return. One of those great blessings was tremendous wisdom. That's something each of us need, and the Lord wants to give it to us too.
