The Unforgivable Sin Part 2

June 18, 2024

Today pastor Jeff Johnson takes us to Matthew chapter twelve, as we resume our discussion about the unpardonable sin.  Yes there is a sin that won’t be forgiven.  In essence it’s away of the work of the Holy Spirit.  We established that last time.  Maybe all of this has you thinking about whether you’ve committed it?  Pastor Jeff will address those concerns and more.

Jesus said there is a sin that we can commit on this earth that God will not forgive.  It’s the blasphemy of the Holy Spirit!  What is it?  And have you committed it?  A couple of key questions we’ll look into today on Sound Doctrine as we get back into our series in Matthew’s gospel.  Pastor Jeff Johnson is looking at the Unforgivable Sin.

When it comes to our eternal destiny God wants us to know where we stand.  He doesn’t want us to be fooled or misled, but rather to have confidence and assurance in our relationship with Him.  And the book of First John gives us just what we need to hear in that regard.  Today on Sound Doctrine we’ll look in the mirror, and put ourselves to the test to see if we’re real believer or a make believer.

Pastor Jeff Johnson is in the middle of a study in Matthew, and we’ll be picking up where he left off in chapter twelve.   In case you haven’t noticed the enemy is coming at us with everything he has, in these last days.  So how do we defend against the onslaught?  Today pastor Jeff pulls back the curtain on the spiritual realm, and shows us how to engage in the battle through prayer.

Today we get back into our study of Matthew, and we left off in the middle of chapter twelve.  Here Jesus is healing a lot of people.  From a man with a withered hand, to many who were ill, and even a demon-possessed man who was blind and mute as we’ll hear today!

Work six days and take one day to rest and recharge…that was established by God from the very moment of creation and also layed out in the 10 Commandments.  And today on Sound Doctrine we’ll see the importance of enjoying a rest day. Pastor Jeff Johnson opens Matthew chapter twelve where Jesus’ disciples were being accused of violating the Sabbath.  But these accusers totally missed the point of the Sabbath, in that it was made for man and not the other way around.

There is a great deal of misunderstanding about what the Bible teaches concerning specific days, like the Sabbath.  And that oftentimes leads to false conclusions.  On today’s Sound Doctrine, we’ll consider whether we have a love or law relationship.  You’ll learn the difference between the two. We’re entering Matthew chapter twelve.

In Second Timothy we’re warned that there will be a time when people will not endure sound doctrine, but having itching ears they will accumulate for themselves teachers to suit their own passions, and turn away from listening to the truth, and wander off into myths!  A case could be made that we’re living in that very day!  Today on Sound Doctrine we’ll see how to avoid this deception, and it has everything to do with abiding in the Lord and His Word.

People everywhere are growing weary and burdened as they look at the problems in the world and in their life. Many are looking for relief.  The good news is we can find rest and salvation in Jesus. How do we know this? Jesus said so Himself.

The way we judge, is very often different than how God judges!  Today on Sound Doctrine we turn to Matthew chapter eleven and hear how the Lord judged some in Tyre, Sidon and Capernaum.  With greater privilege comes greater responsibility and greater judgement.  The same holds true in our day.
