The Games Christians Play Part 2b

December 14, 2022

Criticizing and judging, there’s no shortage of that in the church today.  And sadly many churches are known for it.  When we should be known by our love instead.  Today on Sound Doctrine pastor Jeff Johnson encourages us to get along and avoid judging and criticizing over non-essential issues.  There’s far too much at stake!

Why is it that we so often have the hardest time getting along with some of our family members?  That’s also the case in the family of God.  Just look at all the bickering and fighting going on in the church today!  But today on Sound Doctrine we’ll learn why it’s important that we get along!

The day of worship, tattoos, movies, music, dancing or what we wear!  I could go on for days citing examples of things we might refer to as disputable matters!  Areas that aren’t prohibited in Scripture.  Today on Sound Doctrine we’ll learn how to exercise our liberties in a God-honoring way, and come to the realization that it’s ok if we disagree in these areas.  Pastor Jeff Johnson will use Romans chapter fourteen as the springboard for today’s insightful message.

Wouldn’t you like to be an effective tool in the hands of Almighty God in these last days?  You can be, and the Prophet Daniel shows us how!  Daniel was completely sold out to the Lord, and kept his eyes focused on what God called him to do.  On the otherhand we’ll meet a King today on Sound Doctrine who was in complete rebellion against God.  Pastor Jeff Johnson has us consider which of these two paths will we take in life through his message in Daniel chapter five.

One of the difficulties we face as Christians is the differing views on the so-called grey areas or liberties!  Maybe you’ve noticed, not every Christian shares the same opinions or convictions as you.  We’re about to continue in the book of Romans today on Sound Doctrine! As we do we’ll notice we’re not to condemn our brother or sister who practice their God given liberties or have different convictions than we do.

It’s been said, “Great things are not done by impulse, but by a series of small thoughtful steps in the right direction.” As we continue in Romans thirteen we’ll be challenged to take some steps that will move us in the right direction, safeguarding us from sin that will lull us to sleep.  The Lord is coming soon and it’s time to wakeup!

Time is of the essence because the Lord is coming. But it’s not hard to see, many in the Church are sleeping!  It’s time to wakeup, and today’s Sound Doctrine will sound the alarm. Even in the early Church some began to slumber and needed a wakeup call. Perhaps that’s exactly what you need today?

We’re in Romans thirteen today.  You can probably identify someone in your life that is hard to love.  Maybe they really get on your nerves!  Today pastor Jeff encourages us to love God’s way, and that involves loving and forgiving someone with all of their faults.  To do so is to be like Jesus.

An ancient philosopher said, “It’s not for ourselves that we are born.” And the same is true for those who are born again. We owe a great debt. But how is it to be paid? We are making our way through the book of Romans. And have come to chapter thirteen where we discover a debt we owe.

We’ve all seen graffiti as we drive around town, and it’s very often someone trying to get a message across in a very inappropriate way.  Like to a rival gang.  But today on Sound Doctrine we’re going to draw your attention to God’s Graffiti, meant to convey a very important and needed message to a King and people who were out of line.

It’s been said, "A strict observance of the written law is doubtless one of the high virtues of a good citizen, but it is not the highest." We’ll hear about that higher law and good citizenship today on Sound Doctrine with pastor Jeff Johnson. Last time you may recall we were in Romans chapter thirteen and began to learn about our submission to the governing authorities. We’ll go a little further into this timely issue now!
