Persecution, the Seed of the Church (Part2) Episode

October 24, 2019

The word of God is sharper than any two edged sword. It reveals the thoughts and intentions of our hearts, and helps us to discern between what is spiritual and what is natural. And as we continue our studies on the effects of the persecution of the church, Pastor Jeff helps us to see how the power of the word in a person’s life is able to accomplish the work that God sent it out for. And as we allow the Lord to speak to us through His word, we too will be changed by its illuminating power, shining into the dark areas that the Lord wants to liberate us in. With more on our study from Acts 8, let’s join Pastor Jeff for our time in Sound Doctrine.

It’s been said that the one thing that Satan doesn’t want Christians to be engaged in is sharing the Gospel. And in hopes of quenching the growth of the church and the Gospel, he began to persecute the church. However, God had other plans. And what Satan intended for evil, God meant for good, and used it to save many people during that time and our time as well. Pastor Jeff shares what Satan initiated and how God reciprocated in using Persecution as the seed of the church. So join us in Acts 8 for our time in Sound Doctrine.

Trials, persecutions, and difficulties have a purifying impact on a believer’s perspective. They will refine our faith as we look to Jesus and allow God to move us out for the purpose of other people seeing Him working in our lives so that they will come to a saving knowledge of Jesus and have the hope that God can work in their lives as well. Pastor Jeff paints a descriptive picture of the pain and purpose that God is working as His people experience trials. He then helps us to see today, how we can benefit the most by allowing Him to have His way. With more of our study titled, “Persecution, the Seed of the Church,” let’s join Pastor Jeff in Acts 8 for our time in Sound Doctrine.

There are many paradoxes in the kingdom of God. The way up is down, those who humble themselves will be exalted, and through great persecution comes great blessing. As we turn the corner in a new chapter in the book of Acts, Pastor Jeff helps us to see the persecution of Saul against the church. And how the persecution to the church caused great power for God to reach even more people. With an in-depth look at how God is able to mix blessing and persecution at the same time in our lives today, let’s join Pastor Jeff in Acts 8 for our study titled, “Persecution, the Seed of the Church.”

At the deepest point of our pain from within a trial, it is difficult for us to imagine that anyone else understands what we are experiencing. Yet not only does God understand our pain, but He is able to use it in ways that we can’t imagine. As we look at the death of Stephen, the church’s first martyr, Pastor Jeff says that it certainly wasn’t wasted, but God used it in a powerful way to pave the way to be a powerful witness in the life of one who would become the greatest of the apostles. With more on that, join us in Acts 7 for our study titled, “Resisting Change, Part 3” for our time in Sound Doctrine.

The Bible tells us that it is inspired by God, or God-breathed. IOW the Holy Spirit used men to write God’s word and today He uses God’s Word to illuminate and convict our hearts and minds. As we resume our study in Acts 7, Pastor Jeff shows the 4 ways in which we are able to hinder the work of the Holy Spirit in our lives. And then he shares how God’s word is able to cut to our hearts and get our attention and the purpose for it. With more on that, lets join Pastor Jeff in our study titled, “Resisting Change Part 3,” with Pastor Jeff.

No one likes being told that they are wrong. But when the truth is presented and backed up and there is still a denial, it reveals a problem in the recipients to be objective. The Bible says that the god of this age has blinded the minds of those who don’t believe. Pastor Jeff says that God sent Stephen to the religious rulers in order for them to have an opportunity for change. An opportunity for strength for today and hope for tomorrow. With more on our study titled, “Resisting Change, Part 3” let’s join Pastor Jeff in Acts 7 for our time in Sound Doctrine.

How long do you give advice to someone before you stop helping and let them deal with the consequences of their own choices? That’s part of Israel’s history that Stephen is recounting to the Jewish leaders as He shows that they are not as in tune with obeying God as they thought. Pastor Jeff shows the result is that God allowed them to follow their own stubborn hearts and reap the consequences. He then shows how America is following the same pattern, and what to do about it.  With our final installment of the study titled, “Resisting Change Part 2,” let’s join Pastor Jeff in Acts 7.

You shall receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you shall be witnesses to me in Jerusalem, Judea & Samaria, and to the end of the earth. That’s the mandate that Jesus gave the disciples as He ascended in Acts. And that’s the same message that we are given now until He returns in the same way. As we look into one of the longest messages preached in the book of Acts, we discover what Stephen was sharing with the hard-hearted religious rulers of Jerusalem. Pastor Jeff breaks up Moses’ life and call into 3 key areas, and shows how that applies to us as well. With more, let’s open to Acts 7 for our time in Sound Doctrine.

What was true of Abraham is true of the Christian today. Because Abraham believed God’s promise, God accounted his faith for righteousness. It wasn’t Abraham’s works or religiosity, but faith. The same is true for each and every Christian as well. As we as justified by our faith in Christ Jesus, God accounts righteousness to us just as He did Abraham. Pastor Jeff shows that while the Jewish leaders accepted Abraham as their father, they fought the shift that walking by faith presented with God. With more, let’s open to Acts 7 for our study titled, “Resisting Change,” for our time in Sound Doctrine.

The Bible says that the letter kills but the Spirit gives life. And when the religious leaders of the book of Acts who followed the letter of the law came into contact with the church, that was birthed by the Holy Spirit, there was conflict. Today Pastor Jeff shows how Stephen was giving the religious leaders a history lesson of Abraham receiving God’s promise by faith and not the law, and how we need to continue to walk by faith in Jesus Christ and not our own works. With more on our study titled, “Resisting Change Part 3,” let’s join Pastor Jeff in Acts 7.
