Our Liberty as Christians Part 1

August 28, 2021

Freedom is something we’ve enjoyed here in America. Soldiers have fought to keep it that way.  And God wants us to live as free people.  With that said, there is a danger you want to be aware of that goes along with this.  We can easily take things too far, and before you know it, we’re starting to use our freedom as a coverup for evil.  This warning comes to our attention today on Sound Doctrine, as pastor Jeff Johnson visits First Peter 2:16.

It’s said, “Since choices have consequences we’re incentivized to make good ones.” We’ll get some help with that on today’s Sound Doctrine with pastor Jeff Johnson. What makes drifting in life and in our relationship with the Lord so dangerous? We don’t realize you’re doing it. So, we need a fixed point of reference to keep us in check. We’ve been in Second Chronicles.  In chapter fifteen a great revival is described for us.

If the surveys are right it seems that many today profess to know the Lord but few are actively seeking Him. Why is that? No doubt a revival is needed. But how does it come about?  We’ll look into that on today’s Sound Doctrine with pastor Jeff Johnson.

Pastor Jeff Johnson is knee deep into his study of First Peter.  We’ll be in chapter two. Civil unrest and lawlessness… we’ve seen that in large measure in recent months haven’t we?  But as we’ll learn today, God calls us to obey, submit to and respect those in authority!

Many live as if this world is a playground but it’s a battle ground. What’s at stake are eternal souls. And while we’re promised victory still we must fight. We’re in Second Chronicles chapter fourteen, an historical account of revival and victory in battle. It’s a reminder of our call as soldiers.

Revival has been described as a “new obedience to God.” But another has said “that revival tarries because too many are ok without it.”  Thankfully God’s not ok without it. We’ll learn on today’s Sound Doctrine that God can bring revival.

Faith and trust are synonymous. And when your faith or trust is in the Lord you will prevail in your circumstances and in life. While that’s the case, many prefer to trust in themselves and their own resources. It’s a human tendency we must guard against. Today’s Sound Doctrine will help us do just that.

Repentance has been described as “giving up the fight against God.”  Yet some are stubborn and persist in what must be a losing proposition. Today’s Sound Doctrine with pastor Jeff Johnson will show where that leads. We’ll hear of a case in point as we continue in Second Chronicles thirteen.
