On January 29th 1886, man invented the power of the combusion engine. On November 1, 1952, the world learned the power of the first hydrogen bomb. But it’s been over 2,000 years and God’s people still haven’t grasped the power of God’s word. As Pastor Jeff Johnson finishes our time in the book of 1 Thessalonians we discover Paul’s view of God’s Word as a necessary component for God’s people to be read to the church. And our growth is in direct proportion to the time we spend in it. So, with our final study in 1 Thessalonians 5 here’s Pastor Jeff with our study titled, “My Prayer for You.”

Not too long ago one of the top wireless carriers had a character whose tag line was, “Can you hear me now?” It illustrated how common the loss of communication and dropped calls on certain carriers. In the same way, there is a loss of people feeling like they’re being heard as well, living lives of quiet desperation as Thoreau once penned. Pastor Jeff Johnson reminds us that there is a need for our world to receive comfort. And just as we have received comfort from Jesus, so too it is important to pass along that same comfort to others. Do you have hope as you walk in this life? If so, what is the reason for your hope, or the source of your hope? Some people hope in material possessions, in career advancement, in relationships, or other things. But as a believer in Jesus Christ, Pastor Jeff Johnson outlines 5 sources of hope that we have. There will be no occasion for sadness. However, wrath will be the portion for those who remain on the earth.
