Lessons Learned Part 2

September 14, 2021

I think you’d agree we need a revival today. But maybe you haven’t considered, what’s our part in it? It’s said that “If we will do God’s work, God’s way, in God’s time with God’s power, we shall have God’s blessing.”  We’ll be continuing our study of Second Chronicles chapter nineteen and get close-up look at revival.  And how it starts with just one person.

You don’t have to look long and hard to find examples of pride.  Prideful people abound in the world as we know it.  But God wants us to live in humility, just as Jesus did on His road to the cross.  As you do, you’ll definitely stand out, in a good way.  Today on Sound Doctrine pastor Jeff Johnson turns to First Peter chapter two, and unveils the power of humility.

We know God hears prayer. And we know we should be praying to Him. But too often we don’t pray until we’re in dire straits. And wonder of wonders, He still answers. Last time we learned of a King who was in a real fix, partly because of his own doing. But he cries out to the Lord.

It’s said, “We are what we believe” or “we become what we believe.” But if that’s true why are so few living out what they believe? Or so unhappy about the way things are? There are answers to these questions and we’ll get into them on today’s Sound Doctrine.

God hates divorce because He loves people. And He knows the untold devastation divorce causes. He warns of the dangers and gives clear instruction so we don’t make that mistake, or make it again.  We’re in Second Chronicles. And picking up in chapter eighteen we’re cautioned about being unequally yoked.

Should I see that movie?  Can I have a glass of wine with dinner?  You can probably think of a number of questions you wrestle with from time to time, similar to these.  As believers, we know that we have an incredible amount of freedom. But there are some things that while they may be permissible, have the potential to stumble a Christian, or even mislead an unbeliever!  Today on Sound Doctrine we’re talking about our liberty as followers of Christ, and the right and wrong use of them.

Will God bring judgment to an individual or a nation? What does that look like? Can it be avoided or remedied?  The answer is yes, but only by the gospel. And we’ll hear about it and more on today’s Sound Doctrine with pastor Jeff Johnson.
