Jacob's Home Life Part 1

A fractured family… that would describe a good number of homes today.  It’s a rarity for kids to be living under the same roof as Mom and Dad, with divorce as common as it is.  And maybe that’s something you can relate to!   As we turn to Genesis chapter 30 today on Sound Doctrine we’ll give attention to Jacob’s home life, and it’s a real mess.  Pastor Jeff Johnson will utilize our time together to encourage us to allow the Lord to be our home builder and sustainer!

As we open Genesis 29 we’re about to witness some high level drama!  Jacob is in love with Rachel, and is going to get hustled into marrying her sister Leah.  Pastor Jeff believes this is an example of reaping what you sow in life.  If you’ll recall Jacob walked in deception and hustled for a good portion of his life.  And now he’s going to get a taste of his own medicine and it’s not pretty.

No matter where we are, or what we go through, God is with us.  What a blessing for the believer to cling to.  And today on Sound Doctrine we’ll be reminded of God’s presence, and we’ll also hear what our response should be to this!   We’ll be in Genesis chapter 28.  And God is dealing with Jacob.  We’ll soon discover this is reminiscent of how He deals with us too!

Right now we’re in Genesis chapter 28, and for the next 8 chapters the focus will be on Jacob.  Up until now we’ve seen Jacob up to no good, but God got a hold of his life.  And we begin to hear of his transformation and really the saving of Jacob in this chapter.
