History's Warning: Get Right Part 2

We’ve got a very interesting study all lined up for you today on Sound Doctrine, as together we open Daniel chapter two. If you’ll recall Nebuchadnezzar had a dream, which Daniel is now interpreting. We want to focus today on the fourth kingdom in this dream, described as iron mixed with clay. It has ten toes! Pastor Jeff Johnson believes this is speaking of a Revived Roman Empire that will assemble at the time of the end.

We're in Daniel two today. Nebuchadnezzar had a troubling dream and he goes on a quest to discover its meaning. In the verses before us today God is going to speak to the pagan King and He’ll use Daniel in the process. Through it all, we’re carefully considering this question, What does the future hold?

We’ve all had nightmares, and some of them were so terrifying that even after we wake up we still question whether or not it was real. Today on Sound Doctrine we’ll see how God got a King’s attention through his sleep, and in doing so revealed world history.

And not to trivialize any suffering you’re facing but our aim is only to reassure you there’s hope and encouragement to be found in God’s Word, specifically First Peter. Daniel and his friend would find that to be true, but it would necessitate going against the tide of pop culture. Those of you parents probably look for opportunities to bless and encourage your kids when they do right! Did you realize God is much the same way? We’ll learn today that when we’re obedient, God blesses. That comes shining through in the passage before us.

As this world continues its downward spiral in moral depravity, the challenge for Christians is to live a life of no compromise. We certainly need encouragement in this area and Daniel gives it to us. From a very young age he purposed in his heart to serve the Lord and live a God pleasing life, refusing to go with the crowd.

Today on Sound Doctrine we open Daniel chapter one with pastor Jeff Johnson. And we’ll notice Daniel settled in his heart that he wasn't going to allow anything to get in the way of God's purpose for him. And pastor Jeff believes that's the sort of determination we need to carry through life. Maybe there’s something that’s getting in the way of that? Let’s carefully consider Daniel’s life of no compromise that can serve to encourage us greatly.

Daniel was a Christian young man who took a stand for God, and determined not to be defiled, under intense pressure to say the least. In addition to being a man of no compromise, he was also in the Word and in prayer on a regular basis. Pastor Jeff Johnson believes that’s the sort of people we’re to be in these last days.
