He's the Potter Part 1

October 21, 2022

While our plans may fail God’s never will. And His plan is a good and loving plan – so we don’t have to be afraid to trust Him with our lives.  I think you’d agree, we still struggle to do so. So we could use some help with that and we find that as we continue in Romans chapter nine on Sound Doctrine!  It’s there we learn about the lesson of the potter and the clay

Are God’s choices and decisions fair? Or when we consider God’s fairness - are we asking the wrong question? Perhaps the question should be - why does God show His grace and mercy to us at all? The fact of the matter is, without God’s grace, we’d all be lost!  Today on Sound Doctrine pastor Jeff Johnson will take us to Romans chapter nine, which has often been at the center of many debates concerning God’s sovereignty and man’s free will.

It’s God’s mercy and grace that gives me hope for the whole world, Billy Graham once said. He was on to something. And he surely reflected God’s heart. But truth be told it’s a struggle to hold this view when things go wrong. We’ll get some help from Romans chapter nine – which raises the issue of the fairness of God reflected in the choices He makes.

I probably don’t have to remind you of how unfaithful people can be!   We see examples of that in marriage, in business dealings, or even from people we call friends. While we are unfaithful at times, God always remains faithful!  And that’s something we need to constantly be reminded of.  Today on Sound Doctrine we bring you a message from pastor Jeff Johnson on the faithfulness of God, as seen in His dealings with Israel.

As things go from bad to worse in the world around us, it’s good to be reminded of God’s faithfulness.  Today on Sound Doctrine we’ll hear of God’s faithfulness to Israel.  And you can be sure, just as He was faithful to them, so will He be with us.  We’re in Romans chapter nine, a section that deals with Israel’s past election.

We begin a new chapter in our study of Daniel today, and that’s chapter four.  I’m sure you’ve heard some amazing testimonies over the years, but this one takes the cake.  King Nebuchadnezzar would no doubt fall into the category of least likely to become a Christian.  But God got ahold of his life. He’s still performing saving miracles like this today.

We’ve all experienced the pain on the other side of a hurtful, unfair accusation, or we’re the brunt of some harmful actions of another.  And when that happens it would be easy for us to grow bitter and angry.  But today on Sound Doctrine we’ll learn to adopt a much better response.  One of love, forgiveness, and bathed in prayer.

If you take a stand for Christ today, and live for the Lord, prepare to be hated.  It’s not hard to see the growing hostility toward the things of God in the world today.  But today on Sound Doctrine we’d like to pause for a moment to consider our response.  How should we respond to the haters we encounter?  Jeff Johnson says we can learn a thing or two from the apostle Paul’s reaction towards those that hated him!

When things go from bad to worse in our lives, we may start to wonder, Does God still love me?  The enemy will try to convince us that He doesn’t.  But the truth is, Nothing can separate us from Jesus’ love!  That’s the glorious reality we’ll unpack today on Sound Doctrine, as we make a return visit to Romans chapter eight.

When we fail, and we all do, the enemy loves to whisper in our ear words of condemnation!  But God on the otherhand wants us to hear His truth at such times!  That He cannot fail.  He won’t leave you, and nothing can separate you from His love.  Today on Sound Doctrine we’d like to draw your attention to marvelous truth, from Romans chapter eight.

Does it feel at times like the whole world is coming against you?  Maybe the pressure is so intense, you’re really down and discouraged about it?  While there are definitely some things that are against us as Christians, there’s something we don’t want you to lose sight of today on Sound Doctrine.  And that is, God is for you!  When you come to understand that, it makes all the difference in the world, as you make your way through life.
