He's the Head, Part 2

Isn’t it true that the older you get, it seems that the body has more and more difficulty carrying out the commands from the head. You can’t seem to run as long, jump as high, or lift as much as you thought you could. Unfortuantely at times, the same is true for believers. The further they seem to walk along with Jesus Christ as their head, the less they respond as His body. In today’s edition of Sound Doctrine Pastor Jeff Johnson reminds us that it is vitally important for us to give the more earnest heed to the things we hear from God’s Word or we will slip away. As believers there are times in our lives when we ask God for more of HIs Spirit, more of His power to be made known to us. There are times in life when we feel like we are all alone. As we have been going through the book of Ephesians, we have seen Paul’s emphasis on prayer. In our study we realize that Paul was a powerful witness because he was such a man of prayer. Hebrews 7:25 also tells us that Jesus lives to pray for us, so we know that we are never alone. As we follow the Lord and cultivate a heart to see others come to know Jesus Christ, there are invariably those who seem to be stubborn and holding out on surrendering their lives to God. Too many times we try to direct God when we pray, tell Him how to accomplish the salvation of friends or family. So glad you could join us today as we are going through the book of Ephesians. Judging from our excerpt with Pastor Jeff you may have been led to think that we are already in Ephesians 5 looking at the role of husbands and wives. But today on Sound Doctrine Pastor Jeff Johnson reminds us that though we may not always experience the satisfaction or the complete fulfillment we would like in our marriage here and now, that joy is only a foreshadow of the reality of the what is a result of a born again relationship with Jesus Christ. And then He helps us to see that focusingl on the guarantee of our inheritance in Christ, God’s Spirit will help us in our marriages and our lives until He takes us home. Just as its true that as parents we would do things for our children that we wouldn’t naturally do for other children, so too God does for the believer what He doesn’t promise to do for anyone else. It’s spring and many people are cleaning out their garages. And the list of To-Dos around the house is being made.
