When you think of power, you might think of a person, like the President - generally regarded as the most powerful person on earth. You might think of a machine, like a NASCAR race car, which can go over 200 miles per hour. But no machine or person can compare with the power we’ll discuss today, the power of prayer. As we reach the end of Acts twelve, we will see the end of Herod and the power of prayer!

The scene we continue to look at today in Acts chapter twelve would make a good mini-series. We have Peter in jail, released miraculously. We have Rhoda, trying to explain to Peter’s pals that he is indeed at the front door. We have Herod... well, Herod is just a mess. All in all it makes for a great time of study in God’s word.

Today, Pastor Jeff Johnson will be sharing a message based on the twelfth chapter of Acts. At this point in the early church tragedy strikes. James was killed and Peter thrown in prison. It’s interesting to note that the church would respond by praying.

We are currently in a verse by verse study of the book of Acts. As we begin chapter twelve today, the topic is the power of prayer. There are plenty of powerful things around us in the year 2025. Rocket ships, power plants - they all generate lots of power, but they all pale in comparison with the power of God, available to us through prayer.
