Being an Acts 2:42 Christian Part 1

Today we’ll focus on just two verses… Acts 2:41-42. Here we find God’s prescription for a healthy church, or individual! The philosophy of ministry of the early church is a good model for today’s church. And we’ll notice four simple things that they did, which we should do as well.

Today we return to our verse by verse study in Acts. We left off in chapter two at verse five. As believers in Christ we’re to be witnesses in this world. Whether it’s speaking to our neighbor across the street about Christ, or going overseas to share the love of Jesus. But to do this effectively we need to be spirit-filled and led. Here in Acts chapter two we see the churches first witness!

If you’ll recall last time we were together the disciples were told to wait in Jerusalem for the promise of the Father. Well here in chapter two, that promise arrives!

Idolatry isn’t just a thing of the past, but it’s a present reality in many lives. While we may not be setting up wooden images on our mantel, the idols in our lives may take the form of money, sex or pleasure seeking. Let’s be encouraged to embrace the real thing, Jesus Christ!
