A Time for Everything Part 1

October 21, 2020

Today we get back into our series in Ecclesiastics.  We’ll be covering chapter three.  Our lives revolve around time.  Could you imagine trying to navigate through life without it?  When would we arrive at work, or schedule an appointment without the time?  God is also very concerned about time, and as we’ll see today there is a time for everything, and a season for every activity under heaven.

As we look around it might be easy for us to conclude that things are spinning out of control, and wonder if God is really in control!  So is He?  Ecclesiastes makes it clear that God is sovereign and everything under His control has its season.  God’s timing is perfect, ours isn’t. So shouldn’t we try to exercise patience and wait for God to act in our lives and show us the way?

Join us today in the book of Ecclesiastics, chapter two. This chapter can be capsulated this way: True satisfaction in life is found in a relationship with Christ. And I should add, nowhere else!  Need proof, just look at King Solomon who had everything a man could want materially, and yet felt empty and unfulfilled. We’d do well to learn from his experiences.

That’s a great lesson for us in this materialistic world we live in. So join Jeff Johnson for Solomon’s search for a satisfied life from Ecclesiastics chapter two.

You can see it on so very many faces today people by and large are empty, discouraged, frustrated and hopeless.  If you try to find meaning in life apart from the Lord, that’s what you’re left with.  But today on Sound Doctrine we’d like to help you move from frustration to freedom!  Ecclesiastes chapter one points the way.

Frustration is at an all-time high for many Americans right now.  But you can move from frustration to freedom, and we’ll tell you how on Sound Doctrine.  We’ll hear of one man’s struggle to find the meaning and purpose in life and draw inspiration from it today.  His conclusion is the same we should arrive at, and that is apart from God life is empty and frustrating.  But the good news is if we’ll trust in Christ and live for the glory of God we can find what we’re missing.

Material possessions have nothing to do with eternal happiness. If you’re looking for a perfect example of this truth, you need look no further than King Solomon. He had everything a man could want materially and yet he reached a time in his life when he felt completely empty.  Maybe that’s the station in life you’re at today? See where true satisfaction is found as you join pastor Jeff Johnson in this introduction to Ecclesiastes.
