If you take a stand for Christ today, and live for the Lord, prepare to be hated. It’s not hard to see the growing hostility toward the things of God in the world today. But today on Sound Doctrine we’d like to pause for a moment to consider our response. How should we respond to the haters we encounter? Jeff Johnson says we can learn a thing or two from the apostle Paul’s reaction towards those that hated him!

There is so much that we don’t know… our knowledge is very much limited. But God on the otherhand knows everything. He sees the big picture in your life, and is working out a wonderful plan. We’re going to see God’s purposeful plan for each of us, as we study God’s Foreknowledge.

We come to a very comforting and encouraging verse today on Sound Doctrine, Romans eight twenty-eight! It makes it clear that believers are in the hands of God, who in His remarkable providence works all things together for good. We’ll learn today that a proper understanding of the truth contained in this verse will help us avoid bitterness and anger, even when the doctor says you have an incurable disease, or you have a flat tire on the side of the road.

The implications while at first may sound frightening – are very reassuring. As believers we are in the hands of God – who in His providence works all things together for good. We live in a world full of bad news, and we’re reminded of that every time we turn on the news. From mass shootings, to inflation that’s out of control, or people dying unexpectedly! And if this is all there was to look forward to, there would be no hope. But today on Sound Doctrine we’ll see the hope we have in Jesus Christ and what awaits us in heaven. Do you remember as a child getting those growing pains? Hurt like crazy, and would often even keep us up at night. But it was necessary stretching! And so it is with the Christian life as we’ll soon see. In this life we experience painful trials… growing pains if you will. They’re intended to help us grow into the person God wants us to be.
