Demonic Lies
[Demons] ...speaking lies in hypocrisy....
1 Timothy 4:2
Satan and his demons speak lies. Jesus described our adversary:
“He [Satan] was a murderer from the beginning, and does not stand in the truth, because there is no truth in him. When he speaks a lie, he speaks from his own resources, for he is a liar and the father of it” (John 8:44).
Unfortunately, there are many gullible people who will be deceived by doctrines of demons. They are being led away by them because they have somehow opened their hearts in some way to listen to heresy. People have received false doctrines from demons, and not the truth from God. In doing so, they have embraced a lie instead of the truth.
God, throughout the Scriptures, has given us His truth. We have had the privilege of knowing the truth about His love, grace and mercy. He has given us the Spirit of truth: “...when He, the Spirit of truth, has come, He will guide you into all truth; for He will not speak on His own authority, but whatever He hears He will speak; and He will tell you things to come” (John 16:13). So why would anyone want to stop following Jesus?
Some of Jesus’ disciples walked away from Him. Jesus turned to the twelve and asked if they were also going to leave. Peter was convinced of this truth: “Lord, to whom shall we go? You have the words of eternal life” (John 6:68). Peter and the rest of the disciples had faith in whom they recognized Jesus to be, “...we have come to believe and know that You are the Christ, the Son of the living God” (John 6:69).
The Scriptures tell us the truth, and by faith, we believe in the truth of the Gospel. Jesus marked the path for us to follow by saying: “I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me” (John 14:6). I encourage you, if you have stopped following the Lord, return to Him. Jesus will set you free from Satan’s lies: “And you shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free” (John 8:32).
True faith rests upon the character of God and asks no further proof than the moral perfections of the One who cannot lie.
