A Christian’s Worthy Walk

...that you may walk worthy of the Lord, fully pleasing Him, being fruitful in every good work and increasing in the knowledge of God....
Colossians 1:10

Notice, Christians are called to a higher standard––that you may walk worthy of the Lord. The word worthy in the Greek language means “of equal weight.” Literally, your walk is to imitate the life of Jesus Christ. It is important to understand that our Christian walk also speaks of our intimate fellowship with God.

Enoch was a person who walked in close fellowship with God. He had this testimony––he pleased God (Hebrews 11:5). What happened to Enoch as a result of walking worthy––fully pleasing God? The Lord took him into His presence: And Enoch walked with God; and he was not, for God took him (Genesis 5:24). Is your life pleasing to God in everything you do? If so, then one day, either when you die or are taken in the Rapture of the Church, you, too, shall be in His presence!

However, there are some people who mistakenly think that once they have accepted Christ, they have eternal life and that is it. That is far from the truth. Yes, they have salvation, but believers need to grow and mature in their walk with God and know how to please Him. They must study His Word to gain knowledge and wisdom.

You can tell the kind of walk a person has with the Lord by the fruit seen in their lives (Galatians 5:19-23). Does your walk with the Lord have evidence of fruitfulness? A close walk with God will bring fruitfulness in every good work you set out to accomplish.

If I walk with the world, I can’t walk with God.
