Hidden Treasures

...attaining to all riches of the full assurance of understanding, to the knowledge of the mystery of God, both of the Father and of Christ, in whom are hidden all the treasures of wisdom and knowledge.
Colossians 2:3

Paul spoke about hidden treasures, not of gold and silver, but of wisdom and knowledge. He spoke of riches––an unveiled mystery of Christ––giving us a full assurance and understanding of our Christian faith. This is similar to what we learned in the book of Ephesians. Our position in Christ has made us spiritually rich! We have been given an incredible understanding of the hidden treasures of wisdom and knowledge made manifest to us, about both the Father and of Christ.

Christ is the Eternal One. Through the power of His Spirit, we can understand the depth of the knowledge of Christ. While here on earth, we must continue to be in God’s Word. As we attend Bible studies, we will continue to develop into mature Christians, gaining a full assurance and understanding of salvation, and the revelation of who Christ is. The mystery of Christ has been revealed to us.

Do you understand that Christ dwells in us? Once we are saved, our bodies become God's holy temple––the place where He lives. His Spirit dwells in us like the Holy of Holies within your heart. The Holy of Holies was the innermost and holiest place in the Temple of Jerusalem and only accessible to the High Priest. That gives understanding to why Paul warned the Corinthian church against carnality:

Don’t you realize that all of you together are the temple of God and that the Spirit of God lives in you? God will destroy anyone who destroys this temple. For God’s temple is holy, and you are that temple (1 Corinthians 3:16-17 NLT).

As Christians, we are the Bride of Christ––His Church. He is our Lord and Savior. It is a holy union, a relationship.

The chief purpose of life, for any of us, is to increase according to our capacity our knowledge of God by all means we have, and to be moved by it to praise and thanks.
