Satan and His Demons Are Real

“How you are fallen from heaven, O Lucifer, son of the morning! How you are cut down to the ground, you who weakened the nations! For you have said in your heart: ‘I will ascend into heaven, I will exalt my throne above the stars of God; I will also sit on the mount of the congregation on the farthest sides of the north; I will ascend above the heights of the clouds, I will be like the Most High.’ “
Isaiah 14:12-14

Many people do not believe in Satan. They think he is a myth, but he is real. One of his names is Lucifer which means “a shining one.” It is believed by some that he was an archangel who guarded the very throne of God (Ezekiel 28:14). In his pride, the Dragon––another name for Satan––rebelled against God and caused a third of the angels in heaven to rebel and fall with him to the earth (Revelation 12:4).

In the story of Daniel, the reality of Satan is seen. This God-fearing man prayed and fasted continuously for three weeks: ...I, Daniel, was mourning three full weeks. I ate no pleasant food, no meat or wine came into my mouth, nor did I anoint myself at all, till three whole weeks were fulfilled (Daniel 10:2-3).

Daniel was unaware of the spiritual battle happening behind the scenes as he prayed. The Scriptures reveal to us that one of Satan’s demons fought with a heavenly angels to keep God’s message from reaching Daniel:

“Do not fear, Daniel, for from the first day that you set your heart to understand, and to humble yourself before your God, your words were heard; and I have come because of your words. But the prince of the kingdom of Persia [a strong demon with great authority] withstood me twenty-one days; and behold, Michael, one of the chief princes, came to help me, for I had been left alone there with the kings of Persia” (Daniel 10:12-13).

Christians, do not be afraid of Satan and his demons. Jesus has ... disarmed principalities and powers ... triumphing over them... (Colossians 2:15). God’s Spirit dwells within us. The Bible teaches: You are of God, little children, and have overcome them, because He who is in you is greater than he who is in the world (1 John 4:4). Jesus is greater!

Under Christ, as the Head, angels are the guardians of the church.
