It’s easy to make judgments about other people when we are ignorant of their lives and backgrounds. Instead of staying ignorant, we need to seek to learn from others so as to share the Gospel with them in a way that they can understand.

The Bible makes it very clear that there is a distinct line separating those who are for Christ and those who are against Him. You cannot be on the fence. God has either put His Spirit in you to draw you to proclaim Jesus as Messiah and live for Him, or you follow the spirit against Him and are anti-Christ.

We all need encouragement every now and then, but few people are willing to give it in fear of building a big ego. Rather than letting anything stop us from encouraging others, we should simply encourage them as God leads us to, and let God deal with a person’s ego. Although God does not need it, He loves for us to praise Him, and in doing so we ourselves gain encouragement.

Once we get to the point of receiving God’s grace, we are able to see our lives through the lens of being created and used for His purposes. The Bible tells us to run the race in such a way so as to win, and so we must look to Jesus and keep running, allowing Him to work in and through us to strengthen and equip us for all that is in the path.

While there are many different kinds of people in the world – rich, poor, simple, smart, etc. – the fact is that all of us are shipwrecked and need a Savior. As we are on this “island”, we should be utilizing our time to share the Good News so that others may find salvation and no longer be lost with an emptiness in their life that only God can fill.

Men tend to find their value in their work, and because of that they lose all sense of importance in the case of a job loss. Instead of trusting in other men or a corporation, we must put our trust in God who promises to sustain us and carry us through His good and perfect will for our lives.

About Richard Ellis

Authentic... Genuine... Sincere... This guy is the real deal. He loves God. He loves his wife Rebecca and his 3 daughters. He loves people. He loves his job. He loves Texas BBQ. He loves an occasional round of golf. And he loves the Dallas Cowboys (but don’t hold that against him!).

Richard grew up as a missionary kid in Brazil, coming back to the states to finish his education. He graduated from Baylor University in 1982 with a BA in Oral Communications, and earned his MDIV in 1985 from Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary, making him the sixth generation of pastors in his family. His early days of ministry included serving for three years as the Single Adults Pastor at the First Baptist Church of Dallas.

Then in 1997, Richard Ellis founded Reunion Church, a multi-cultural, multi-ethnic, non-denominational church in the heart of Dallas,Texas. Dallas needed a church like it. And it would need a pastor like Richard. So Reunion Church was born. And now the radio show and the website (www.RichardEllisTalks.com) join the Reunion Church community under the leadership of this guy. And we’re all the better for it!
