When we accept Jesus as our Lord and Savior, we are essentially admitting that we have nothing to give but He fills us with His life. We can then either hold onto everything He gives us or we can turn around and give back to Him as He leads and watch Him open the floodgates of blessing in our lives.

The Bible warns us many times about watching the words that come out of our mouths because it indicates what is in our hearts. If the words that we speak are not God-pleasing, Jesus-loving words then we should be asking ourselves where our heart is at and get right with God.

There is too much segregation in the world today, even and especially amongst churches. Like people gathering with like people is modeled in and outside of those proclaiming to love and follow Jesus. There is nowhere in the Bible that encourages segregating ourselves within God’s family. In fact, we are instructed to love each other fully, despite the outward appearances or lifestyle differences, because what unites us is Who we belong to.

When we face trials in life, our greatest weapon is to worship God in the midst of the difficult circumstances because the enemy we are against is not what we are looking at but rather a spiritual enemy. When we worship God, He fights on our behalf and we are safe and secure in Him.

The reality that our country faces in light of racial issues and separation opens the door for believers to bridge the gaps and put to action the love that Christ has called us to for all of our neighbors. It’s one thing to know what the Bible says about loving our neighbor as ourselves, but it is only when that command is put into action personally that true change can begin to take place in us and around us.

People in today’s world get so caught up with judging each other, anger arguments, and removing people from their lives that they don’t get along with. God calls us to a standard of perfection while also teaching us how to show mercy to ourselves and others when that mark is not met. Jesus was the only perfect dude that made a way for us to have Him living through us to be perfect, too.

Our motivation when giving needs to be bringing God glory, so we must give in response to His calling. The Bible speaks about the necessity of giving, not so that others are provided for but more than that, it’s about our hearts. God gives to us so that we can give to others in response to trusting Him and thanking Him for the blessings He’s given.

Many people in this world are indecisive and full of doubt, and the mess that their lives are in is a result of that. God wants us to choose to follow Him, giving up all fear and doubts, trusting and believing in all of His promises, and He will take care of us.

Jesus turned the world upside down because He was willing to give His own life for the will of the Father in order so that we might be saved. When we accept Him as our Savior, we should essentially be giving our whole lives to Him, willing to sacrifice anything He says, because His sacrifice was about so much more than simply giving us a ticket to Heaven. His sacrifice was about saving the world, and using us in the process.

The poor and needy are everywhere around us, but we are too often distracted by our schedules and possessions to even notice them. The Bible teaches us that God will always provide for our needs, and when we give to the poor it’s as if we are giving to Him.

We live in a world that is broken by sin, and that includes our own lives whether we want to admit it or not. In order to change, we must be in a growing relationship with God. When He lives in us, His love for others flows through us and we can change the world around us.

About Richard Ellis

Authentic... Genuine... Sincere... This guy is the real deal. He loves God. He loves his wife Rebecca and his 3 daughters. He loves people. He loves his job. He loves Texas BBQ. He loves an occasional round of golf. And he loves the Dallas Cowboys (but don’t hold that against him!).

Richard grew up as a missionary kid in Brazil, coming back to the states to finish his education. He graduated from Baylor University in 1982 with a BA in Oral Communications, and earned his MDIV in 1985 from Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary, making him the sixth generation of pastors in his family. His early days of ministry included serving for three years as the Single Adults Pastor at the First Baptist Church of Dallas.

Then in 1997, Richard Ellis founded Reunion Church, a multi-cultural, multi-ethnic, non-denominational church in the heart of Dallas,Texas. Dallas needed a church like it. And it would need a pastor like Richard. So Reunion Church was born. And now the radio show and the website (www.RichardEllisTalks.com) join the Reunion Church community under the leadership of this guy. And we’re all the better for it!
