The writer Mark Twain once quipped, "Some people are troubled by the things in the Bible they can't understand. The things that trouble me are the things I can understand."  Yes, many people have the idea that the message of the Bible is troubling, depressing, bad news.  They have a sense of not having lived entirely the way they should have, and simply hope that the good that they do will outweigh the bad.  They nervously plan on slipping into heaven on that basis.

Have you heard of the Ten Commandments in the Bible?  One of them is often translated "thou shalt not kill." The original Hebrew word in this commandment is ratzah, which is specifically "murder." In English, murder is defined as unlawfully killing a person, as a result of a plan. Yet we know that not all human laws are not moral. There are differing opinions around the world about the lawfulness and morality of capital punishment, abortion, war, and other practices that result in death.

Upset plans, changes of schedule, and unexpected delays often cause frustration, disappointment, and anxiety.  When it seems that our carefully made plans are derailed, remember that God's plans for our ultimate good are never disrupted. God does love you and wants you to thrive but what we think would be good for us often isn't.
