Where you can find light in the darkest nights

November 19

God is our refuge and strength,
a very present help in trouble.

Psalm 46:1

Years ago, there was a great Christian woman in our community who passed away after a long bout with cancer. According to her son, she struggled with anxiety as her disease progressed. So on those nights when she couldn’t sleep, she’d say to God, “God, I’m going to go to sleep because I know You’re going to be up all night anyway.”

This brave woman knew that even in the darkness of the night, God was there. And it wasn’t just in the literal night, but the dark night of the soul she so often experienced because of her dreadful disease.

Whether it’s sickness, depression, anxiety, loneliness, or any other state that causes us anguish, we can take comfort in knowing that God is there. He never leaves nor forsakes those who are His, and is an ever-present help in times of need.

Maybe you’re experiencing the darkness of night today. But the greatest encouragement you can have is to know you’re not alone. God loves you, and will never leave your side if you’ll call on Him. Let that truth be your comfort today. Trust God in the darkest of nights, and He’ll give you the light you need to keep going.

TRUST GOD’S LIGHT IN THE DARK TIMES OF LIFE, AND HE’LL GIVE YOU STRENGTH TO KEEP GOING.
