How To Find True Joy In Serving God
July 3, 2013
The point is this: whoever sows sparingly will also reap sparingly, and whoever sows bountifully will also reap bountifully. Each one must give as he has decided in his heart, not reluctantly or under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver.
2 Corinthians 9:6-7
One of the greatest ways we can worship God is to give Him our time. Yet it seems like every time I try to encourage people to volunteer on Sundays or help throughout the week, I get this response, “Pastor, I’d like to serve. But I just don’t want to get tied down. I don’t think I can make a commitment.”
We have things to do… family activities, sports, vacations, business trips. And very often, these things mistakenly take precedence over serving in our local churches. Many people might as well come to church on Sunday mornings with signs around their necks that read, “Do not disturb.”
The Bible says we’re to serve, and to serve with joy in our hearts. Now that doesn’t mean we don’t serve just because we’re not “feeling it.” No, we serve even when we don’t want to and let our service create in us a deeper joy and satisfaction for serving. In other words, we serve when we don’t feel like it so that we will feel like it!
Believers begin to understand the true meaning of joy when they see God accomplish something great through them. Serve in your church, watch God work in and through your life, and you’ll discover what it really means to be a cheerful giver!
FIND TRUE JOY IN SERVING GOD BY COMMITTING YOUR TIME AND EFFORT AND WATCHING GOD DO GREAT THINGS THROUGH YOU!
