The Bible tells us that God fills us with joy in His presence, with eternal pleasures at His right hand. Wondering what to do in life? The same verse above says that God will make known to you the path of life. We can ask Him in prayer! Ephesians 2:10 says "God has planned good works in advance for you to do." As a young adult, Jonathan seriously contemplated suicide that ended with a major moment with God. Today, Jonathan leads worship at his father's church, assisted by his wife, Rebecca. They have three young children and want to live to serve God. You will hear: My dad was crying on the floor - broken. My mom did not want to talk to me. What the heck did I do? – Jonathan I had gone through this time of disconnection with God. The times of rebellion in my life was the influence of the people I allowed in my inner circle, like my friendships. The boundaries I had set up for myself being raised up in a Christian home, I let go of them. That made me, not just create some distance with God, but also, create hatred towards Him. It opened the doors to even, I know it sounds crazy, but even suicide.  – Jonathan God loves me as I am… Okay God, I am not alone. Be filled with the Spirit,…singing and making melody in your hearts to the Lord; Ephesians 5:18b, 19b If we are able to love one another above all of that, God will work through it. -  Rebecca Do not give up on yourself as parent, as a person. God loves me as I am. - Rebecca God can use what we think we are not good at. – Jonathan  One of the important things as Christians, as followers of Christ, is we got to learn to be grateful at all times, when we don’t have it all and when we have much.  We have to be grateful in everything. Even when we are at home or we are in debt, and everything is not going the way we were hoping for - being content, being grateful is something that you can learn as a Christian by knowing what God has done for us. – Jonathan He hasn’t had an easy life.  He decided to be brave.  - Rebecca  In Part 1, we saw how before Jonathan's father was a pastor he was a Colombian guerrilla rebel fighter hired to assassinate an evangelist. The evangelist said, ‘I believe there is someone here, that is here to kill me.” My dad’s testimony is that he went up and everyone freaked out because he came and put his gun down and gave his life to the Lord. From then on, his life turned completely around. His decision paved the way for his son, Jonathan, and his whole family. You have this pressure to be the perfect parent, the perfect mother, the perfect dad. I am going to try to be the best mom that I can be. But I’m not perfect. I’m human. I fail sometimes. But I do want them to take away that we love them. Sometimes you have to forgive yourself for the mistakes that don’t look as perfect as you would expect them to be. Have faith that God will finish the good work in your life. – Rebecca God’s word says “His perfect love cast out all fear.” – Jonathan “You [Lord] came near on the day I called You. You said, ‘Do not fear.’’ – Lamentations 3:57 In the middle of my anger, I have to ask God, help me to communicate. I have messed up sometimes…by ignoring. I have learned I do need to communicate and I need to learn to communicate in a wise way. With kids you need to be patient, but not patient as the world teaches by doing nothing. Freedom is found in many areas of life. With her parent's marriage struggling, Jihong felt she could not find real love and fell into a deep depression. She developed a long-time, life-threatening eating disorder that is very hard to cure called Bolemia. Her husband was told of her Bolemia on their third day of marriage. See his reaction. Deep inside there was such a void, I had to pretend to be this model kid. - Jihong They hand out gospel tract with very simple cartoon pictures on it. – Jihong That night I try to give God a chance. – Jihong Probably three days after we got married, she woke me up and told me about a strange word, Bolemia. Maybe for a couple of days I don’t think that is a big deal. - Kaibin Doctor told me, you could have died, because I was pretty severe type of Bolemia. - Jihong He (Kaibin) said - We’re going to face this together. No matter how hard it is. - Jihong I was told - If something is burden to you, ask for God’s help. - Kaibin He was told - How about you live life for 30 days just like Christ is coming. - Jihong So we lived those 30 days like Christ was coming back. We read the Bible. We prayed. We tried to trust in God everyday. Tried asking for strength. Unbelievable. The reason I could be cured was all because of God. - Jihong Pretty much every day, we told each other that this is the last day to live. - Kaibin Parental authority from God they respect, but whenever we abuse it, we apologize for it. - Kaibin My objective for my children would be that I want them to be a genuine person. I want them to know Christianity is true in every area. So our family life is genuine. We can have genuine discussion. How I genuinely love her, how she respects and loves me that is observable to my children. - Kaibin I think the biggest impact on my life for Christ is watching other people do so much and their passion. If these people are this devoted, then who is this God that they are searching after? I challenge my own faith and explore and that comes to my own conclusion that Christ is Savior. - Daniel The number one that teenagers hate about their parents is hypocrisy. Be genuine. Let them see we are also human being. We try to be holy and that we are in the process. - Kaibin

Knowing nothing but Communism, Kaiben and Jihong both grew up in different parts of China. When they came to the U.S. separately to attend college, neither had any idea their lives would be so radically changed by a guy they had never heard about named Jesus! Now pastoring a Chinese congregation in America and raising four children, their journey is paved with miracles, including victory over a deadly eating disorder. God has not destined us for wrath, but for obtaining salvation through our Lord Jesus Christ. 1 Thessalonians 5:9 You will hear: We were educated that Christianity is not good for Chinese People. - Kaiben I even wanted to write an article, 100 reasons not to believe in Christianity. - Kaiben I really had a personal encounter with the whole Tiananmen Square thing. - Jihong My father taught me how people should have freedom of speech, freedom of gathering. He really gave me the first touch of those ideas. - Jihong We have rules like, laugh and be kind – Jihongand debate and argue. Just speak your mind. – Kaiben We talk mainly around the dinner table and debate most of the time. – Daniel We encourage the environment, everyone speaks out. – Kaiben Dinnertime together becomes a family tradition.The most important thing is that we can communicate.That is very precious time for our family. – Kaiben Whenever there are important things that happen in the world. They will bring it up and we have a debate. A nice debate. – Jihong We think it is easier to talk about faith in that kind of setting, because everybody is relaxed. – Jihong
