Don't Mess With This Mama - Missy Maxwell Worton

October 28, 2022

Risking It All to Rescue Their Daughter from Sex Slave Trade

"So we fought to declare ... we are just a family that wants to adopt this child

and give her a home and love her ...

where she was going was going to take her life." - Missy

The rules in Ethiopia are that once your adoption is approved in court, you have to come back six weeks later to be able to take your child home with you. Missy and her husband, Mark, were thrilled when their adoption of their Ethiopian daughter was approved. Then they had to say goodbye for six weeks. They promised they would come back for her, even through she did not understand English. Then the unthinkable happened. They were told they would not be able to adopt her. What they discovered was someone was taking her into potential sex slavery. Hear Missy tell the harrowing true story of hiding out, having a bodyguard that would not take payment, and battling in court each day to bring their daughter home. Missy and Mark faced false accusations, illegal actions against them, fears of imprisonment in a third world country and concerns over their family’s safety. Hear the miraculous interventions of an unshakeable God in how this family escapes dire circumstances.

Missy Maxwell Worton, is a multi-award winning author, speaker and destiny coach. As an author, she writes across various media platforms, including film, television and multiple magazines. Her greatest desire is to awaken women to the superpower they have within them as a daughter of a mighty and loving God. Then, a lot of friction when a teenager. Is there no hope? Or has God has made this child for a good purpose no matter what it seems like? From Derral Eves' story we can realize to continue in faith and guidance of the Lord, for there is hope as parents, even when we might feel like giving up."For we are God’s handiwork, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do." Ephesians 2:10"My parents have been supportive from day 1 of trying to help me understand who I am; my relationship with God, also my relationship with others, and what I am meant to do here on earth. I can honestly say because of their mentorship and friendship I was able to discover Jesus and I was able to discover a world I did not even know existed and it lead to doing things that people said was impossible. It helped me establish a routine and a mindset that I could be used in different aspects to really build up the Lord's kingdom." - Derral Eves"Little did I know being a teenager most of the friction was me. 'Cause being a teenager I had no idea the world actually existed outside of Darrel Eves. It wasn't until having couple life moments of discovering Jesus and realizing what Jesus has done for us and being redeemed and being put on a path of what it means to be a follower of Jesus that I discovered what type of parent I wanted to be." - Derral EvesTo support this ministry financially, visit: https://www.lightsource.com/donate/1494/29

"We go through our life trying to hide our scars. So people have asked me many times, how could you put your personal story out there. If it was broken, I wouldn't, but being beautifully broken... We try to hide our scars, but there are other people that have been scarred as bad as us. I think back to the Bible after the crucifixion when Jesus came from his resurrection and he met his disciples for the first time, what's one of the first things He did? He showed them His scars. He didn't show them the scars to remind them of the pain. He showed them the scars to remind them of his victory over that pain. Not to compare myself to that, but why do I show the scars of our family? Because it is to remind people, to let people know that there is a victory over that pain. There is a victory over those scars. And it is a beautiful one.Sometimes you might feel lost. But I promise you, when you feel lost, God is laying a trail you just can't see yet. So persevere." - Randy HartleyONE FAMILY ESCAPES GENOCIDE IN RWANDA,WHILE ACROSS THE WORLD, ANOTHER FAMILY REELSFROM THE TRAGEDY OF DARK SECRETSULTIMATELY,BOTH FAMILIES’ LIVES WILL BE GRAFTED TOGETHERTHE STORY BEHIND THE FEATURE FILM BEAUTIFULLY BROKEN NOW RELEASED AS A MEMOIR.Beautifully Broken, now a book by Nashville’s Randy Hartley (and featuring Rwandan refugees William and Ebralie Mwizerwa), powerfully illustrates the lengths that fathers will go to save their families, and how God intersects vastly different paths through simple acts.Hear in Part 2 of "Beautifully Broken", this Life Family Chat with Randy Hartley, how scars are overcome with victory. For the book and/or the movie go to beautifullybrokenmovie.com.Beautifully Broken is a powerful story of redemption and a moving depiction of how God interweaves our stories with others’ for His glory.Michael W. This true story is a movie and memoir, a vivid, first-person reminder of how deeply involved God is around the globe. In it, you find the Mwizerwas, who narrowly escaped genocide in Rwanda in 1994, and the Hartleys, who found redemption after helping their teenaged daughter heal from the trauma of sexual assault. For the book and/or the movie go to beautifullybrokenmovie.com.Long before the two families' paths crossed, William and Ebralie Mwizerwa fled Rwanda after 100 harrowing days of violent conflict within the nation’s borders. During this time, more than one million Rwandans were brutally murdered by the militia. It was a genocide that Rwandans have never forgotten, and one William and Ebralie were fortunate to have survived. From this harrowing journey, the Mwizerwas settled in Nashville, Tennessee and began providing resources to help other refugees through their non-profit, Legacy Mission Village.Unbeknownst to the Mwizerwas, their paths would soon cross with Nashville natives, the Hartley family. The Hartleys were dealt a devastating blow when their teenaged daughter, Andrea Hartley, became the victim of sexual assault. This traumatic experience caused her to turn to unhealthy coping mechanisms and rebel. As the Hartleys tried to help their daughter reclaim her life after this unthinkable incident, Andrea found hope largely through serving children and families in need at Nashville’s Legacy Mission Village, the non-profit refugee support center founded by the Mwizerwas. After meeting, the two families' stories became even further intertwined on a trip to Rwanda. In preparation for meeting her sponsor child in person, Andrea and her family invited their new friends the Mwizerwas to come along to Rwanda as translators. During the visit, the Mwizerwas reconnected with family and friends, yet tragically discovered unspeakable horrors their family members had suffered in the years they’d been apart. This included the revelation that a relative was involved in William’s mother’s death. This forced William into a spiritual quest to forgive that would alter his perspective and change his faith forever.Through this beautifully textured saga of a father fighting to save his daughter and another father fighting to save his family from genocide, we are reminded again and again of God’s redeeming providence in the midst of even the most unspeakable circumstances and the mysterious blessings in being beautifully broken. For the book and/or the movie go to beautifullybrokenmovie.com.To support this ministry financially, visit: https://www.lightsource.com/donate/1494/29

Lee Strobel almost died.It caused him to realize, "You want to know for sure what happens when I close my eyes for the last time in this world." (Subscribe for shows and more parentcompass.tv/subscribe)Have you ever doubted Christ's existence? Have you ever wondered what happens after we die? The Parent Compass Chat above covers both. As an award-winning investigative journalist, Lee set out to prove her wrong. Since then, Lee Strobel travels the world telling others the evidence he found. He is the New York Times best selling author of "The Case for Christ" and most recently "The Case for Heaven". In total Lee has authored more than forty books and curricula that have sold fourteen million copies.Profoundly affected by his recent brush with death, Lee turned to what he does best, investigative journalism, to prove with evidence the existence of Heaven. What does he find? Hear the evidence summarized in the Parent Compass Chat above and in his new book and recent movie, The Case for Heaven. The movie, The Case for Heaven, takes audiences on a fascinating journey to find out what happens after we die. Lee Strobel explores the evidence for an afterlife as he addresses mankind’s biggest fear: death.
