Revelation 13:118

In the End Times, a man will come whom the Bible calls the Beast and the Antichrist.

The Beast of Revelation

The Apostle John wrote of his vision, “I saw a beast rising up out of the sea…” (Revelation 13:1b) The sea stands for the nations of the world. (See Revelation 17:15.) The Beast will come suddenly when nations are in turmoil.

The Son of Satan

“I saw a beast rising up out of the sea, having seven heads and ten horns, and on his horns ten crowns, and on his heads a blasphemous name” (Revelation 13:1b).

This description was given before, in Revelation 12:3—“Behold, a great, fiery red dragon having seven heads and ten horns, and seven diadems on his heads.” Who is this dragon? “The great dragon was cast out, that serpent of old, called the Devil and Satan” (Revelation 12:9a; emphasis added).

The Antichrist

“The dragon”—that is, Satan—“gave him his power, his throne, and great authority” (Revelation 13:2b).

When Satan tempted Jesus, “He said to Him, ‘All these things I will give You if You will fall down and worship me.’ Then Jesus said to him, ‘Away with you, Satan!’” (Matthew 4:8-10a).

But the Beast will worship Satan, and Satan will give him his power. (See 2 Thessalonians 2:9.)

The Appeal of the Beast

John wrote, “I saw one of his heads as if it had been mortally wounded, and his deadly wound was healed. And all the world marveled and followed the beast” (Revelation 13:3).

This will be Satan’s counterfeit resurrection. Doubtless this “Beast” will be handsome, charming, clever. “For Satan himself transforms himself into an angel of light” (2 Corinthians 11:14).

The Mission of the Beast

1. Worship Satan

“So they worshiped the dragon who gave authority to the beast” (see Revelation 13:4). Satan has always wanted to be worshiped. (Read Isaiah 14:12-15.)

2. Blaspheme God

“Then he opened his mouth in blasphemy against God, to blaspheme His name, His tabernacle, and those who dwell in heaven. It was granted to him to make war with the saints and to overcome them” (Revelation 13:6-7a).

3. Dominate the World

“And authority was given him over every tribe, tongue, and nation” (Revelation 13:7b). The whole world will follow the Beast, either because of intimidation or bribe.

“All who dwell on the earth will worship him, whose names have not been written in the Book of Life of the Lamb slain from the foundation of the world” (Revelation 13:8). Paul says of this time, “God will send them strong delusion, that they should believe the lie” (2 Thessalonians 2:12).

The Second Beast

“Then I saw another beast coming up out of the earth…he exercises all the authority of the first beast in his presence, and causes the earth and those who dwell in it to worship the first beast, whose deadly wound was healed” (Revelation 13:11a-12).

Satan has always wanted to be like God. So, not only is there the anti-God (Satan) and the Antichrist, but also the antiSpirit.

This false prophet will control the masses through great signs, the image of the Beast (Revelation 13:13-14), and the mark of the Beast: “that no one may buy or sell except one who has the mark or the name of the beast, or the number of his name.…His number is 666” (Revelation 13:17-18b)

What Does This Mean for Us?

Keep your children away from ungodly entertainment. Stand against intrusive big government that is coming to getting us all regimented, packaged, and manipulated.

Be offering up massive praises to Jesus. Teach your children how to protect themselves, by giving them truth. (See Hebrews 4:12.) There is no need for you to be terrified if you know the Word of God.
