Anyone with a modicum of intelligence can see storm clouds gathering. We all know we’re running out of time. Current events are markers along the way, pointing to the coming Battle of Armageddon. But there is a God, and He’s in control, no matter what.

In Revelation chapters 16 and19, the Apostle John saw a vision of the Battle of Armageddon in the world’s greatest natural battlefield, the Valley of Jezreel, where the last great battle will be fought. As time grows shorter, we need to know some of the markers along the road to Armageddon.

Detailed prophecies predict Armageddon.

Something will draw armies to gather at Armageddon. Certain factors will pave the way for this final battle.

  • Israel back in her homeland. (See Luke 21:24b, Isaiah 43:5-6 and 66:8.) After eighteen centuries, on May 14-15, 1948, a nation was born in a day.

  • A reunified Europe. The Bible says that at the end of this age, the Old Roman Empire will reunify (Daniel 7:24, 9:41-43, Revelation 13:1-2). Out of Europe, Antichrist will come.

  • A coming one-world government. The world is moving toward globalism. There’s a drumbeat for “one world religion, economy, government—the same drumbeat heard at the Tower of Babel.

  • Former Soviet republics and many Arab nations are joining forces against Israel (Ezekiel 37-39).

  • The “Kings of the East” have strengthened and militarized (Revelation 16:12). China is now a powerful military force. Dictator Mao Tse-tung (Mao Zedong) bragged, “We can field an army of two hundred million,” the exact number John prophesied.

These converging markers underscore that Jesus can come at any moment…all the more reason to be ready.

Demonic passions provoke Armageddon.

Satan sends out his demons, saying, “Bring the nations to Armageddon.” Satan is itching for a fight with God (Revelation 16:13-16).

He’s gathering the nations thinking he’s going to have a showdown at Megiddo with the very Son of God. Satan’s demonic powers are working against the plan of God.

Read Matthew 24:24, 2 Thessalonians 2:11, 2 Peter 2:1 and 1Timothy 4:1.

Demonic forces will promote Satan’s new religion of neopaganism and deceive the nations of the world. Jesus said, “He’ll deceive the very elect if it were possible.”

Determined people plot Armageddon.

Revelation 17:12-15, a confederacy of ten nations from reunified Europe, following Antichrist, come against Jesus in the Battle of Armageddon. Who will be with Jesus? The saved, the called, chosen and faithful.

Devilish pride precipitates Armageddon.

Satan’s ambition has always been to be worshipped. He finally achieves it in Revelation 13. Now is his golden moment. Midway of the Tribulation, Antichrist strides into the temple declaring the ultimate blasphemy, “I am God!”

The Jews will know he deceived them. Scales will fall from their eyes. Satan will “make war with the saints” (Revelation 13:7) because they won’t worship him (Matthew 24:15-22). A time of unmitigated horror begins.

Devastating plagues precede Armageddon.

The party is over (Revelation 16:8-11). Plagues descend, yet people won’t repent. With his kingdom unraveling, Antichrist comes against the Lord.

Divine power predominates Armageddon.

What a scene in Revelation 19:11-16. Demonic spirits control the ten nations moving against Jerusalem. What they call “the Jewish problem” will finally be settled. It looks hopeless.

Suddenly there’s an invasion. Jesus comes with an army robed in white. From His mouth comes a two-edged sword. At that moment, Jesus speaks.

The battle is over.

He who spoke them into existence will speak them into oblivion. By the power of our Lord’s voice, Armageddon will be won (Revelation 19:17-21).

Precious friend, don’t ever be at war with God. Jesus Christ will take care of Antichrist. The kingdoms of this world will become the kingdoms of our Lord and His Christ (Rev 11:15).

Are you at peace with God or at war with Him? Jesus made peace through the blood of His cross. You can sign a peace treaty with the Prince of Peace. You can be in league with the Lord if you’ll say yes to Calvary.
