Last month we looked at the grave national danger from internal and external foes and then we looked at our great national despair both personally and spiritually. Now we can finally see the way to victory! In all circumstances, Jesus is the answer. But how do we get there?
As you read this prayer of a patriot, you'll see three elements that detail this gracious national deliverance:
Return, we beseech thee, O God of hosts: look down from heaven, and behold, and visit this vine; And the vineyard which Thy right hand hath planted, and the branch that Thou madest strong for Thyself. It is burned with fire, it is cut down: they perish at the rebuke of Thy countenance. Let Thy hand be upon the man of Thy right hand, upon the Son of man whom Thou madest strong for Thyself. So will not we go back from thee: quicken us, and we will call upon Thy name. Turn us again, O LORD God of hosts, cause Thy face to shine; and we shall be saved. (Psalm 80:14-19)
The first is the man of God. There is the vine, but there is also a branch that God has planted for Himself. In the original language the word "branch" and the word "man" in the above verses, are the same word. There is a man at the right hand of the Majesty on High. Do you know His name? We read that He is the "Son of man." His name is Jesus. There is coming a return to Jesus Christ, the Lord of lords, the great God, our King.
There is also the movement of God. The above verses ask God to "quicken us." Oh friend, I don't know any other deliverance other than for God to stir our hearts. We need a miracle for America. We need God to breath on us and quicken us unto repentance and faith.
The last element in this national deliverance is the miracle of God. Psalm 80:19 speaks of revival. Do you know what revival is? It is the smile of God. It is the shining of God's face upon a land one more time.
When we enthrone the Man of God and we implore the movement of God, I believe we will see the miracle of God in America. God wants to bless. God wants to send revival. But, we must act.
We must look up . There's only One who can save us. His name is not written on a nameplate in the oval office. He does not work in the Pentagon. And he does not sit on any earthly throne. We must look to God. He is the only one big enough, wise enough, and strong enough to save us. If we take God out of our government, we are left with a system no better than the rest of the world. It's not too late. We need to look up to God.
Second, not only must we look up, we must confess up. I don't want you to criticize our leaders and legislators. I want you to get on your knees and your face before Almighty God and make certain that there is no unconfessed sin in your life. God promises, "If My people, which are called by My name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek My face, and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land" (2 Chronicles 7:14).
Third, we need to speak up in the name of Jesus — the righteous branch, the man of God's right hand. Satan's strategy is to keep good men silent in evil times. Fourth, we need to stand up for what is right. But Dr. Rogers, we're so few and they are so many. Friend, we don't need more people; we need better people. God always hears the prayer of the righteous remnant.
These are certainly dangerous days, but the greater danger is our own eternal fate. We need an alliance with the Almighty, a peace conference with the Prince of peace and a league with the Lord.
I wonder how many people reading this today do not know if they died right now that they would go to heaven. I don't know what is going to happen in these perilous times, but I know Who is in control of this world. And I know that the soul that has put his or her faith in Christ ultimately will have the victory.
Come to Jesus. Do you want God to save you? If so, visit Who is Jesus on the LWF website. And then let us know what God has done in your life. We want to rejoice with you!
