Focus tonight is going to be on the home, and more specifically, in a marriage, a marriage that has produced children, and again, the home can be thought of as a family, and the family relationship is very dear to God. God moves mightily to comfort that family, to bless that family, to provide for that family, and to lead that family into the midst of his will that they too as a family, can be representatives of his kingdom and demonstrate their faith and be faithful witnesses of the truth of God.

The God of Israel is not a respecter of persons. What does that mean? It means that God has no favorites. When we speak about Israel being the chosen people, it is incorrect to think chosen means the favored people. What it means is that God has uniquely created Israel, and has chosen Israel in order to serve Him, to be the vessel which God will bring blessing into this world, potentially for every nation and every person that is God's desire, God has a plan to bring that about.

Today in our study, we are going to see a transition, a transition away from the Sanhedrin unto Pontius Pilate and also to Herod. And the important thing to remember about this passage is that it's all taking place on Passover. Now, Passover is one of the most important festivals for all of Israel, and the main thing that is done at any festival is a sacrifice is made, and it was the priests, especially the high priests that were called to officiate and to make sure that everything that was done at the temple in regard to the sacrifice was done correctly.

Our God has a long history of blessing his people doing things for our good. Our God has shown Himself faithful to his covenant people over and over and over and the problem is, instead of responding to God's faithfulness with our own faithfulness. We tend to be rebellious. We do not choose his will, but we go after our own will, disappointing God and bringing upon ourselves God's judgment. Now we are studying in the Book of Amos.

We began this chapter last week, and we're going to see this week that God continues to make a distinction between how his people, who have faith, who have wisdom, who have understanding, who have embraced his standards of morality and ethics, how we behave, what we think about various things and how different we should live from those who Do not have faith again.

Our God is a great provider, and we are going to see in the passage that we're going to study this evening a very important truth about God's provision. In fact, we might say a primary symbol of God's provision in the Bible. So it's a biblical symbol that whenever this word appears in the Scripture, it reminds us that God, and God alone provides for his people. And what does he provide? All things, all things that are needed for us to experience victory.

We have reached the 30th chapter of the Book of Proverbs, and we see a unique group of Proverbs. In this 30th chapter, we see that there is a change. Now, when we began our study of the book of Proverbs, we learned that these proverbs were from Shlomo or King Solomon.

Now Messiah told His disciples Watch and pray that you do not fall into temptation, meaning that you do not let the opposition of the world change you into doing that which is against the plans and the purposes of God. R. Baruch is the senior lecturer at the Zera Avraham Institute based in Israel. He also appears on the Israeli Television program Pdut L'amo where he teaches each week from the Bible (This program is in Hebrew).
A similar Bible Study program in English is broadcast on numerous television networks across the United States, Europe, and Africa. Many of his lectures are available in the forms of video, audio and written on Pdut.org (Hebrew) and LoveIsrael.org (English).
Baruch holds a PhD in Jewish Studies. His dissertation was in the translation techniques of the Septuagint. Baruch has been married for 30 years to his wife, Rivka, and they have three adult children. The Kormans live in Israel.
