Shalom and welcome to our study of Hebrew numerology. We're now ready for the number nine, and before we get started, allow me to share with you that there's something unique about this number nine. Now our methodology is usually as follows. We go and we select a number, and we look at the places where that number appears in the Word of God, and we study that passage, and we find that from the context, we learn the meaning of that number. That is a good methodology for learning the significance of numbers that are found in the Bible.

It is important that we know the biblical God. And for some reason today, people believe that there is a difference between the God of the Old Testament and the God of the New Testament. And that is simply false. When we look at Scripture, we see that our God, it says in the Book of Exodus that he is a man of war. Now the word man is also related to personality, and what the scripture is telling us is that God's personality is that he makes war. Why would that be?

A very important doctrine clearly found in the scripture has to do with the divinity of Messiah. Now, the Bible reveals that you show him a ship and of course, I'm speaking about Jesus of Nazareth, that he is fully man, and he is fully God. And this is the basic truth concerning another important doctrine that relates to the divinity of the Messiah, known as the Incarnation, that God who is Spirit, put on flesh, human flesh, and dwelt among us.

We all want God to work in our life. We want him to move in our situations. And in order to ensure that God is going to be responsive to our prayers, we need to consider ourselves as his slave. Now in the Scripture, there is a word. Many times we find that Bibles translate this word as a servant, but when we get to the heart of that word, it means a slave, someone who is absolutely in bondage to another. And the point that we need to see concerning our identity in the Messiah is that we become slaves of God.

R. Baruch is the senior lecturer at the Zera Avraham Institute based in Israel. He also appears on the Israeli Television program Pdut L'amo where he teaches each week from the Bible (This program is in Hebrew).

Baruch holds a PhD in Jewish Studies. His dissertation was in the translation techniques of the Septuagint. Baruch has been married for 30 years to his wife, Rivka, and they have three adult children. The Kormans live in Israel.
