The Greatest Story Rarely Told Part 1b

December 23, 2024

You’re probably going to hear the Christmas story recited this week.  But there are some aspects of this wonderful story that are rarely told!  Some lessor known details!  And that’s what we’ll be focusing on here again today.  In particular the story of God intervening in the life of a couple, that would end up impacting the entire world.  So turn if you would to Luke chapter one, and verse eleven as pastor James recalls the story of Zechariah and his wife Elizabeth who have been praying for a child for many years.  God is about to answer this prayer in a big way.

We’re receiving an education in developing a biblical mindset right now on Light on the Hill.  Glad you could join us.  Imagine God coming up to you and saying, “Ask for whatever you want me to give you!”   What would you ask for?  That very question from God was posed to Solomon, and he asked for wisdom!  God would give that to him and so much more.  Pastor James Kaddis will look at this dialogue and relate it to what every Christian should know about wealth.

Christmas is just a few days away, and in these days leading up to it we thought we’d focus on some of the circumstances surrounding the birth of Christ that are rarely discussed.  We’ve titled the series, “The Greatest Story Rarely Told!”  And it’s based in Luke’s gospel. Here in our first message, pastor James will emphasize the purpose behind the writing of this particular gospel.  While it’s not often talked about at Christmas time, it’s so very important.

The judgment of God… to some the mere thought of that is frightening. But today on Light on the Hill we’ll tell you how to have boldness on that day.  It’s not something you need to worry about, if the love of God has been made perfect in us.  Pastor James Kaddis will be finishing up First John chapter four.

God will Judge the world one day, and when He does it will be final and just. Nobody who walks in evil will be confident on that day but those of us who walk with God will be ready. Are you ready?  Today on Light on the Hill we join pastor James Kaddis in First John chapter four and are getting ready for judgment day!

Last time on Light on the Hill we received a really good working definition of love from the apostle John.  After defining love for us, he then describes what God did for us.  With that as a backdrop he now tells us we’re to love one another. I think you’d agree that is so needed in a world full of hate and evil.

If you go by what the world tells you about love, you’ll be misdirected!  For example, we often hear that love is love or love tolerates evil!  When nothing could be further from the truth.  But if you’ll turn to the Word, you’ll discover what true love is.  And as we’ll see today, God is love.  And the best way we can express our love to God is by following His commands.

Today on Light on the Hill pastor James Kaddis will be discussing what he believes every Christian should know about wealth. Very few believers choose to learn about this subject! Perhaps because of the terrible teaching that surrounds it, and due to the perceptions of many in the church.  But they’re missing out!  We’ll survey the life of Solomon, who was one of the wealthiest people of all time, and James will point out how he leveraged his resources for the glory of God, and something incredible happened.

Many people have made an effort to redefine terms that only God can define and the result is catastrophic. When mankind chose to redefine love, he also chose to self-destruct and that is exactly the condition before us today. This is what God says about love and this is what we need to do in order to save society from the destructive effects already in motion.

What we’re seeing in the world today is exactly what the apostle John prophetically wrote about in First John chapter four.  He couldn’t be more dead on, because the spirit of God was behind it.  You’re about to hear a warning not to believe and receive every spirit, but to test them.  We’ll learn why we’re to do that and how to do that right now!
December 12, 2024
We’re living in a world today where the spirit of antichrist is prevalent, making it all the more necessary to test the spirits to see if they are of God or not.  We’ll talk about this today on Light on the Hill as we get back into First John.  Pastor James Kaddis opens chapter four which speaks of the rise of false prophets in the last days.
