The Bible Part 1

July 7, 2020

We open and study the Word of God each day here on Light on the Hill.  But how do you really know the Word can be trusted, and that it’s reliable?  Maybe you’ve had a well-meaning friend question it’s reliability, or you have yourself?  Join us as we look into some of the characteristics of the Bible.  One of them being, it’s totally reliable, and we have prophecy to prove it!

It’s a tradition many of us hold to, giving gifts to our loved ones on their birthday, at their wedding or Christmas.  I think you’d agree it’s kind of a bummer when we later find out the gift we gave was never used as we had hoped it would be.  Today on Light on the Hill pastor James Kaddis will open First Corinthians thirteen and encourages us to use God’s gifts as He wants us to.

Pastor James Kaddis is about to continue a series we’ve called, “In Spirit and in Truth.”  And here in part six we’re exploring the Word and Mind of the Holy Spirit in Our Lives.  Last time you may recall, pastor James was talking about the gifts God gives to His children, in order for us to be able to fulfill His calling on our lives.  Now today we’re going to see how we’re to put these gifts to use… with love!

Today we’ll be discussing the mindset we’re to have as we exercise the gifts of the Spirit.  We learned last time that we all have an important part to play in the body of Christ.  We might not be up on a stage teaching the Word or leading worship, but maybe our calling is more behind the scenes.  Whatever it may be, pastor James encourages us to seek the best gift for the call that you have from God.

First Corinthians twelve is one of the places in Scripture that describes the spiritual gifts.  But we’re going to take a different approach to the subject today, and talk about the mindset behind the gifts of the Spirit.

We’re talking about the baptism of the Holy Spirit today, and if you’re like a lot of people you have no idea what this is or how to experience it!  Today’s program will help as pastor James visits Acts chapter one.

Pastor James Kaddis is leading us through a series called, “In Spirit and In Truth.”  And here in part four the subject at hand is water baptism.  Maybe you’ve been thinking about being baptized, but just aren’t sure what it’s really all about!  You’ve picked a good day to join us, as pastor James will show us what it symbolizes.

When it comes to baptism there are quite a number of questions that persist in people’s minds.  Like, is it better to get sprinkled, or dunked?  Can an infant be baptized, or should I be saved first?  And does the act of baptism actually save a person?  Beginning today on Light on the Hill pastor James Kaddis will outline what baptism represents.  As you’ll soon discover it’s symbolic of something incredible.

In recent broadcasts we’ve considered what God has done for us in providing salvation.  And that was by no accident, as we transition to service today.  As you’re about to learn, it’s after we come to understand what God has done, that we discover the reasonable response is sacrifice and service.
June 24, 2020
God has called us to a life of sacrifice and service!  That may sound to some like an unreasonable demand. But when you stop to consider the countless mercies our God has lavished upon us, it’s a worthy response. We’re in a series called, “In Spirit and in Truth.”  And the subject at hand today is service.
