It’s one thing to be faithful to the Lord when things are going great, but what about when the heat is on and your very own life is threatened if you do?  Today on Light on the Hill we’re encouraged in the direction of faithfulness to God no matter what.  We’ll see what that looks like in the life of Daniel.  He was told not to pray and if he did he’d be thrown into a den of lions.  That didn’t deter Daniel as we’ll soon see.  But God would be faithful and protect him.

In Second Peter chapter two we read that there will be false teachers among us, who will bring in destructive heresies, and even denying the Lord who bought them.  But there is a way to protect yourself, and detect the false, and we’ll talk about it today on Light on the Hill.  We’re in the middle of a study in First John.

We live in a world that is becoming more and more hostile toward Christians. All around the world we see the persecution of believers growing at an alarming rate. And we even see that that here in America, especially in recent years.  Today on Light on the Hill pastor James Kaddis teaches from Daniel chapter 6 about the persecution of Daniel that landed him in the lion’s den.  It’s one of the more familiar stories in the Old Testament, and has a lot to say to us about being faithful to a faithful God and taking a stand for righteousness.

When we experience trauma, depression can so very easily come on us like a tsunami!  And you may wonder if there’s any hope!  I’m happy to say there is hope and encouragement to be found in God’s Word, and our present series is unveiling that to us.  We’re in First John once again, here on Light on the Hill.  Pastor James Kaddis will be in chapter two, continuing a series called, “That Your Joy May Be Full.”

We’ll meet you in First John chapter two in just a second, where we left off at verse three.  We learned last time that people who are depressed very often lack awareness or sobriety.  And one of the ways we stay sober-minded is steering clear of sin!   So how in the world do we do that you may ask? James will encourage us to get busy doing the work of the Lord, and obey Him. As you go about your day doing good, you’ll find yourself sinning less and less.
