Final Instructions Part 2

July 7, 2021

Today we will conclude the book of Colossians with encouragement to do what God has called us to do, keeping our eyes on Jesus all along the way.  Not everyone will applaud you for doing it, and you might even be unpopular, but the Lord will be pleased and that’s what counts.

Past Episodes

We’re on the final leg of our journey through Colossians on Light on the Hill.  In fact we’ll finish up the epistle tomorrow.  Pastor James Kaddis will be looking at chapter four, and verses 7-18.  The apostle Paul finishes his letter with some important instructions to the church.

Do you ever feel overworked, over-regulated, under-leisured, under-benefited? Many Americans do these days. Today on Light on the Hill we’re encouraged to stay close to the Lord and constantly praying to Him while we’re working.  Most working adults spend a good portion of the day on the job, and this is time that should be well spent, and done for the glory of God.

Those of you who are married, remember back for a moment to your dating days!  You couldn’t wait to see him or her.  You were deeply in love and would think about them all the time.  Fast forward now to being married for a number of years, and for all too many people that love has grown cold.  Sadly that happens in our relationship to God too.  It happened in the church of Ephesus, and we’ll see what Jesus has to say to them and us today on Light on the Hill. If you’ve left your first love for Jesus, it’s not too late to fix it.

It’s said that hard work reveals the worker’s true character! Some turn up their sleeves, others turn up their nose, and some don’t bother to turn up at all.  We’re in a series based in Colossians. In chapter four we’re going to learn how to be a godly and Christ-honoring employee or employer.

Somebody has well said, that “being bitter is like drinking poison and waiting for the other person to die.” The only remedy is forgiveness.  And today we’ll see how this applies to marriage and the family.

Whether you’re single or married today, God wants to help you with your interpersonal relationships.  And they can be successful if you’ll take in and apply His timeless truths found in Colossians.  Today on Light on the Hill we’ll hear how wives are to adopt a lifestyle of submission, and husbands are to point them to the Lord, and love in humility.  And if you’re single,  there’s something here for you too.

It’s said that it takes a greater passion to conquer a passion. And it’s true. In Colossians chapter three we’ll learn three practical steps to take in the conquering sinful practices or bad habits. We’re to put off, and put on.  Today on Light on the Hill pastor James Kaddis explains how this relates to our identity.

Hey do you have a bad habit, you’d like to see go away?  Maybe it’s the continual use of curse words, or looking at things you shouldn’t on the internet?  Today we learn that a key to victory is substituting the bad with something good!  In other words, put off and put on!

Today we return to our exciting study of Revelation.  We’ll be looking at the Lord’s postcard to the church in Ephesus. While they were commended for some things, they had left their first love.  Their love had grown cold.  It happened to the Ephesians and it’s still happening to Christians today. If things aren’t where they used to be in your relationship with Jesus, today’s message will show you how to get back on track.

We realize mindset matters in many areas of life.  If a pro athlete shows up to a game and his or her mind is a million miles away, it will show up in their performance.  Or how about a businessman who is struggling at home, and carries that angry or hurt mindset into the workplace.  They often struggle in some areas right?  Today on Light on the Hill, we discover mindset matters in the Christian life as well.
