The Bible Story You Are In

March 31, 2022

What do you think about when you hear the word “God”? Too many of us have false knowledge about God. We think God loves us more if we obey Him and less if we don’t. Nothing could be further from the truth. In fact, there is a story in the Bible— a story you are actually in— that just could revolutionize your understanding of God and His grace. Frank unpacks that story in this episode. Get ready to look at the prodigal son passage and God Himself in a new light.

Do you have to have a degree in theology, philosophy, or apologetics in order to speak powerfully and accurately about how the church is being influenced by the culture? If you think so—if you think that all of this should be left to the professionals, to some kind of expert class or clergy—then you haven't been reading your Bible enough. You’ve left that to the expert class or clergy, which is exactly the problem we're seeing in the church today.John Cooper, founder and lead singer of the wildly popular Christian rock band Skillet, gets it. He knows that all of us should be ambassadors for Christ doing ministry, not just clergy or those with advanced degrees. He joins Frank to address the scourge of high-profile Christian musicians and celebrities who have deconstructed their faith (not realizing that they have simply reconstructed another one). John has been discussing these issues recently on his CooperStuff podcast. Here he explains further and also reveals his personal testimony and how Skillet broke through to have wide appeal, even to non-Christians.Join Frank and John, along with Alisa Childers, Hugh Ross, J. Warner Wallace, and many others at the National Conference of Christian Apologetics this April near Charlotte NC. There are some people in the Christian church that say we ought not to expose false teachers or publicly name names. Rather, we should just focus on preaching the gospel. Question: Suppose your pastor got up one Sunday and told the congregation that they’d just found out that someone in the church had been exposing your kids to pornography and drugs. What would be your first question? “Who is this person pastor?!” Now suppose that same pastor responded with, “I don’t like to name names, let’s just focus on Jesus.” Would you accept that? No, and you shouldn’t! So it is when false teachers spread poisonous messages within the Christian church. In this week’s episode, Frank addresses such questions as: • How can we best preserve unity in the church? • Is unity the most important thing? • Is it wrong to publicly name names in the church? • What does the Bible have to say about how we are to deal with false teachers? BONUS: In the last segment Frank discusses Gov. Ron DeSantis’ comments regarding Disney’s woke lobbying against the Parental Rights in Education bill – also falsely dubbed the “Don’t Say Gay” bill. You don’t want to miss it! Also, check Greg Koukl’s statement to his high school board here. We have heard many stories of Christians deconstructing and deconverting their faith. So, what’s the best way to help doubters, and how can we engage seekers? In this show, Sean McDowell fills in for Frank Turek and is joined by Preston Ulmer, author of The Doubter’s Club. Together, they address these issues:- How can we practically help people who doubt?- How can we have meaningful conversations with seekers?- How did Jesus approach doubters? In this show, you will learn about “doubters clubs,” which is a movement of Christians engaging their non-Christian friends in meaningful conversation. You'll also get to hear about how these clubs operate and what it would take for you to lead one. Join us!Subscribe on Apple Podcast: http://bit.ly/CrossExamined_Podcast Rate and review! In this show, Frank answers these listener questions: Why did God create people He knew would go to Hell? Why does the Creator have to be personal? How can we defend the odd laws in the Old Testament? Why believe in a Trinity? The most influential apologist of the 20th century was once a hardened atheist. How did C.S. Lewis convert to become such a force for Christianity? Max McLean, writer and star of the brilliant new movie, “The Most Reluctant Convert: The Untold Story of C.S. Lewis” joins Frank for a fascinating discussion that answers that question and gives you a behind-the-scenes look at the movie. Max becomes C.S. Lewis several times during this discussion to reveal what arguments and experiences ultimately brought Lewis to faith in Christ. Go to www.CSLewisMovie.com to see this great film. You can even schedule a special screening for your church or class. Well worth it! Subscribe on Apple Podcast: http://bit.ly/CrossExamined_Podcast Rate and review! Thanks!!! If God is all-good and all-powerful, why doesn’t He stop evil? Maybe it’s because an all-good and all-powerful God doesn’t actually exist! That’s what some atheists will claim. In this show, Frank addresses that claim and these questions: Does evil disprove God? If not, what is God’s purpose for evil? Why does God allow evil that seems to have no purpose? What is God’s ultimate solution to evil? This show offers one of the most profound insights that Frank learned while lamenting the fact that so much evil seems pointless. Why, for example, does a baby die when the entire church prays he won’t? What possible good can come out of a baby dying? Listen for the answer to that and several other perplexing questions.Subscribe on Apple Podcast: http://bit.ly/CrossExamined_Podcast Rate and review! With so many people skeptical about God and the Bible, how can you actually show Christianity is true? In this podcast, Frank will show you how by summarizing the case he normally gives in his “I Don’t Have Enough Faith to Be an Atheist” presentation. The 4 questions that must be answered are these: Does Truth Exist? Does God Exist? Are Miracles Possible? Is the New Testament telling the Truth about the Resurrection of Jesus? In just 48 minutes, Frank provides evidence to show that the answer to these 4 questions is “Yes.”For a more complete presentation, get the book. What is socialism and why doesn’t it work? In this special podcast, Frank shows that socialism doesn’t work because it ignores economics 101 in ten ways. It ignores basic truths about: Private Property (it drives economics) Rule of Law (necessary for a robust economy) Free Enterprise (increases value) Competition (motivates innovation & quality) Self Interest and Service (creates wealth, not greed) Adam Smith’s Invisible Hand (can’t be led top-down) Free Rider Problem (human nature) Ripple Effect (economics is not a static system) Supply & Demand (can’t be dictated) Scarcity (quarterbacks vs. teachers)Frank also addresses the claim that since early Christians lived in a communal way in the book of Acts shouldn’t we?All of these topics are covered in much more depth in the new online course: Jesus vs. the Culture: Who do you Trust? available at CrossExamined.org.Subscribe on Apple Podcast: http://bit.ly/CrossExamined_Podcast Rate and review! In this special show done on Valentine’s day, Frank unpacks the difference between “being in love” and loving someone. Too many people think that once the feeling of “being in love” is gone that the relationship is over and they need to find someone else. But if we blindly followed our fleeting feelings we would blow up our lives and the lives of those around us. Love actually seeks what is best for the loved one and vows to behave in a loving way. Marriage vows are not about feelings but behaviors. Frank shares from C.S. Lewis and the Bible to help us develop better relationships rather than follow fleeting feelings.Subscribe on Apple Podcast: http://bit.ly/CrossExamined_Podcast Rate and review! About I Don’t Have Enough Faith to Be an Atheist

CrossExamined.org is a non-profit ministry founded in 2006, dedicated to equipping people with evidence for Christianity through dynamic I Don’t Have Enough Faith to Be an Atheist seminars. These events are held on college campuses, in churches, and at high schools across the country. Led by Dr. Frank Turek and a team of Christian apologists, CrossExamined addresses the alarming fact that 3 out of 4 Christian youth leave the church during college, often due to intellectual skepticism. In addition to I Don’t Have Enough Faith to Be an Atheist, CrossExamined tackles other relevant topics like Correct, Not Politically Correct and Stealing From God. Our live and self-paced online courses provide even deeper insights into the evidence for your faith.
