10 Reasons Why Socialism Fails

February 15, 2022

What is socialism and why doesn’t it work? In this special podcast, Frank shows that socialism doesn’t work because it ignores economics 101 in ten ways. It ignores basic truths about:

Private Property (it drives economics)

Rule of Law (necessary for a robust economy)

Free Enterprise (increases value)

Competition (motivates innovation & quality)

Self Interest and Service (creates wealth, not greed)

Adam Smith’s Invisible Hand (can’t be led top-down)

Free Rider Problem (human nature)

Ripple Effect (economics is not a static system)

Supply & Demand (can’t be dictated)

Scarcity (quarterbacks vs. teachers)

Frank also addresses the claim that since early Christians lived in a communal way in the book of Acts shouldn’t we?

All of these topics are covered in much more depth in the new online course: Jesus vs. the Culture: Who do you Trust? available at CrossExamined.org.

In this special show done on Valentine’s day, Frank unpacks the difference between “being in love” and loving someone. Too many people think that once the feeling of “being in love” is gone that the relationship is over and they need to find someone else. But if we blindly followed our fleeting feelings we would blow up our lives and the lives of those around us. Love actually seeks what is best for the loved one and vows to behave in a loving way. Marriage vows are not about feelings but behaviors. Frank shares from C.S. Lewis and the Bible to help us develop better relationships rather than follow fleeting feelings.Subscribe on Apple Podcast: http://bit.ly/CrossExamined_Podcast Rate and review! With all our technological advances, won’t science one day answer all of our questions and give us all of our knowledge? Saying God did something doesn’t get us anywhere. That’s God of the gaps reasoning! We just have to give science more time to figure everything out. After all, we get all our knowledge from science. It’s at least the most reliable form of knowledge. So just be patient.Actually, despite appearances, none of that is true. Science is wonderful and it has made our lives better in many ways. But there are limits to what it can do that may not be obvious in our culture. Join Frank as he reveals 9 Things That Science Will Never Explain. No matter how much science advances or how long we wait, science will never be able to explain these 9 things. In fact, you can’t do science without these 9 things!Subscribe on Apple Podcast: http://bit.ly/CrossExamined_Podcast Rate and review! Do you think a school teacher should be able to recruit your daughter to become sterile without your consent? That's happening in America today, as are many more disturbing developments. Frank was stunned when he read a recent speech by Abigail Shrier, author of 'Irreversible Damage: The Transgender Craze Seducing Our Daughters'. The speech, which you can find here sounds the alarm for parents to protect our children. Shrier succinctly sums up the social contagion that is enticing our daughters to make life-altering decisions without knowing the costs. Some teachers and the medical community are complicit. As Shrier puts it, they are bowing to the “woke gods". It's shocking, but what can you do about it? Please listen and share.Check out the Imprimis Article Here. The website Frank was referring to is sexchangeregret.com and the chapter about love is 1 Cor. 13.Subscribe on Apple Podcast: http://bit.ly/CrossExamined_Podcast Rate and review! Can you get an interview with the richest man in the world and then talk about Jesus? Our friends at the Babylon Bee did—the hilarious Christian news satire site. Elon Musk, who is a fan of the Bee, sat for a wide-ranging interview last month that lasted nearly two hours. How did that happen? How did they decide what to ask him—including asking him if Jesus is his Lord and Savior? What happened behind the scenes?Frank is joined by Seth Dillon, CEO of the Babylon Bee, to answer those questions and more. Seth is a student of apologetics who is eager to engage the culture with the truth of Christianity. Frank and Seth discuss some of Elon’s answers regarding Christianity, including the fact that his instincts on free will vs materialism are correct.Musk is highly influential and just about anything he says is covered as news. Although the Bee’s interview has received almost unanimous praise and about 2 million views, some in the Christian community have claimed that Seth and his team should have been more aggressive in questioning Mr. Musk and presenting the gospel. Does Seth have any regrets about the way they handled the interview? Would he do anything differently if he could do it over? Are there any lessons for evangelism in here? How is his relationship with Elon now?Don’t miss this one!Subscribe on Apple Podcast: http://bit.ly/CrossExamined_Podcast Rate and review! How do you get a spiritual conversation started? Can you do it without appearing awkward? Should your goal be to bring someone to the foot of the cross in every conversation you have? Join Frank as he reveals the Top Ten questions that will help you have effective evangelism conversations with friends and even people you meet for the first time. As you’ll see, your goal should not be to bring everyone to the foot of the cross in every conversation. Just moving people closer to Christ incrementally should be your goal in most instances. This takes the pressure off of you by acknowledging that other people and the Holy Spirit have roles in the process too, which will mean you’ll be more apt to evangelize. Your job is to be faithful and to leave the results to God. Frank’s Ten Questions will help you be faithful and move people closer to Jesus. We don’t possess the original New Testament papyrus scrolls. They deteriorate too quickly to have survived this long. So how do we know that the manuscripts we have now are accurate representations of the originals? Is it reasonable to believe that they have been corrupted and embellished to falsely say that Jesus rose from the dead?Detective J. Warner Wallace joins Frank to answer those questions. He cites a technique that law enforcement uses to ensure that evidence from murder or any crime isn’t corrupted. It’s called the Chain of Custody. Is there a chain of custody that secures the evidence about the identity of Jesus from the time of the eyewitnesses all the way to the fourth century when manuscript evidence was more abundant? Listen to find out. This is fascinating!Subscribe on Apple Podcast: http://bit.ly/CrossExamined_Podcast Rate and review! As we enter 2022, how do you make decisions about the biggest issues in life? Who or what is your authority? What doctrines are you following? Everyone believes in certain doctrines—truths about reality. Even atheists. These doctrines govern not only what we think but what we do, how we act. Paul wrote to his disciple, Timothy, "Watch your life and doctrine closely. Persevere in them, because if you do, you will save both yourself and your hearers" (1 Tim 4:15-16). Are we really watching our lives and doctrine closely? Join Frank as he examines that question and the ultimate question, who is your authority? Is it you? Your parents? Your culture? Your government? Your church? Or is it Jesus? This show has some very practical insights and questions you can ask to help you follow Christ and make better decisions. How did we go from the birth of Jesus to Santa, stockings, reindeer, the North Pole, Christmas trees, and Kris Kringle? Does any of this come from Christianity or real-world historical events? The surprising answer is "YES" (well, much of it anyway)! Join Frank as he welcomes the ever insightful historian Bill Federer onto the show to share the fascinating story of how so many Christmas traditions originated and have been passed down to us today. If you want to see a visual presentation of this, be sure to watch the Hope ONE Livestream from December 23rd with Bill Federer. What is the true meaning of Christmas? As Christians, we know it has little to do with trees, presents, and reindeer. But what is it really about? Why is there a Christmas at all? Frank goes to an unlikely place to highlight why Christmas exists — the book of Galatians. There, the Apostle Paul fights for the truth of the gospel — the “good news”— the news that Christ has come to take our sin upon Himself and offer us forgiveness and righteousness for free. The greatest news in the history of the world is that God saves us by grace. Christianity would not be unique if it was just another works-based way to get to God. Grace sets people free from guilt, from rituals, from anxiety, and, most importantly, from our sins. Join Frank as he unpacks this from the first book of the Bible Paul ever wrote, with the most important message he ever wrote. If you want to send us a question for the show, please email us at Hello@CrossExamined.org.Subscribe on Apple Podcast: http://bit.ly/CrossExamined_Podcast Rate and review! About I Don’t Have Enough Faith to Be an Atheist

CrossExamined.org is a non-profit ministry founded in 2006, dedicated to equipping people with evidence for Christianity through dynamic I Don’t Have Enough Faith to Be an Atheist seminars. These events are held on college campuses, in churches, and at high schools across the country. Led by Dr. Frank Turek and a team of Christian apologists, CrossExamined addresses the alarming fact that 3 out of 4 Christian youth leave the church during college, often due to intellectual skepticism. In addition to I Don’t Have Enough Faith to Be an Atheist, CrossExamined tackles other relevant topics like Correct, Not Politically Correct and Stealing From God. Our live and self-paced online courses provide even deeper insights into the evidence for your faith.

About Dr. Frank Turek
