We’ve heard the term “pearly gates” many times over. Why the pearl? The creature in its shell has no means of defense except to transform the thing that is injuring it. A pearl grows out of hurt. What an amazing analogy for the new nature in us that can only be formed by trials and tests.

When the distractions of this world come, and we are easily swayed, the ever-present Holy Spirit is ever-ready to bring us back – back to our true soul’s desire, Jesus Christ. When all is said and done, the joy that we will feel when we walk through those gates of glory, remembering that Christ, the pearl of great price, came to rescue us as goodly pearls.

Confession acknowledges our failures and that we’ve disappointed our Lord. Only then are our hearts open, ready to receive His forgiveness. When the Holy Spirit convicts us of sin, it reveals to us the goodness of God. It is not a terrible thing when our hearts sorrow, knowing we’ve disappointed God, because that sorrow leads to repentance.

Millions of dollars go unclaimed each year, yet, if people knew it was available they would very likely claim it. But you cannot receive something if you don’t claim it. When we come to God asking for forgiveness we need to know our confession of sin does not create forgiveness in God’s heart, rather it enables us to receive the forgiveness that is already there.

When visiting Graceland, someone noticed an interesting book in one of the rooms in the mansion. Written by Uriah Smith, “Daniel and The Revelation” was sitting out in the open. Elvis had 3 bibles, and many books on the topic of bible prophecy. But Daniel and The Revelation outlines the 7 great events that’ll take place before the coming of Jesus. Could it be that Elvis probed this book seeking truth on bible prophecy?
