Each week, Haley Scully and I (Dustin) will be your hosts as we unpack what the Bible says on mental health issues, emotions, relationship problems, spiritual life issues, and more.
We want each episode to be filled with practical guidance from God’s Word, but also to feel like you’re catching up with Haley and me as friends. So, expect a healthy dose of humor and vulnerability as we share our stories and discuss what God’s Word says about real life issues.
The Reason for Hope Talks
As we think about this podcast, I wanted to share with you some of the heart behind why we’re starting Hope Talks.
When Haley and I recorded the first episode, she said something that perfectly captured why we’re doing this.
We want to normalize hope.
You and I know there are no shortage of reasons today to be discouraged, frustrated, and weary. And yes, maybe even hopeless. The pain and burdens we carry are very real.
But so is the reality of hope.
Like a broken fixture at home, sometimes we settle into our brokenness and feel like we just have to “live with it.” We’re often so busy or weighed down by life that we forget about God’s goodness.
Friend, the Christian life is a life of hope.
Jesus is alive and well, and we have an unshakeable hope that circumstances can’t ever change. We should be able to say like the psalmist, “As for me, I will always have hope” (Psalm 71:14).
That’s why we’re starting the Hope Talks podcast – we want to give you every reason for hope, for every challenge in life. Because hope means everything.
Finding Hope in Our Pain & Circumstances
On the first episode, I share a passage you have probably heard. It’s from the book of Lamentations, which describes in detail the deep sorrow and anguish God’s people felt after the destruction of Jerusalem.
But in the midst of his pain, the prophet Jeremiah says this … “Yet this I call to mind and therefore I have hope: Because of the LORD’s great love we are not consumed, for his compassions never fail. They are new every morning; great is your faithfulness” (Lamentations 3:21–23).
I want to encourage you … no matter what you’re facing today – God has great love for you. He is faithful, and there is hope! And that’s what we want to focus on each week on Hope Talks.
